Commute home yesterday. Needed to be home on time. First puncture of the year, ofcourse :')

Nice! I've taken the train before because of the weather and always hated it. Rain and winds this morning so was suffering a bit but the weather is clearing out a lot so ride home should be nice.
-
• #25756
Yeah I'll give it a try, hopefully they will at least fix it.
-
• #25757
What's your alternative route of choice?
-
• #25758
I've been pushing / wheeling on the pavement so far, but three days in and I can no longer be arsed. I go from FH/Catford to the City every day, any alternative route is mainly bullshit along busy roads and I quite like my back roads :(

Are you heading to the surrey canal path after rye lane?
-
• #25760
One of mine came back with "not close enough" and the other looks like it might have action taken but I have to fill out a form to say I will attend court.
What is a "reasonable distance" to pass? It didn't feel reasonable to me but I guess the law is the law innit.

• #25761
yep
-
• #25762
There's a bike parked here with Kojaks. I want Kojaks on my bike.

Got up late, made an omelette, went for fixie laps around Richmond, had a coffee, into work by 12:30. Ah, Wednesdays.

Ultimately that's up to a jury, except the cps won't bother taking to court anything they think is marginal and unlikely to come down as guilty.

hmm I guess if you are coming down from rye park you could swing down Nigel Road>Bellenden Road all the way to the high st? Bit of a rigmarole but is all back roads and what not.
-
• #25766
Alternatively could carry on along Copeland Rd > Consort Rd > High Street > Hill Street and rejoin the canal path after Whitten Timber. That's the first part of my commute and is generally pretty quiet until Peckham High Street

That's a mini cab rat run only likely to get worse with the diverted traffic. And Bellenden road is cratered like the moons surface.
@plasticniki - can you cut down Ivydale Rd. and head down through the neighbourhood towards Queens Road Peckham then have a brief run down the wider bits of Peckham High Street until you reach the Library?
-
• #25768
I work in the city and come in from Sydenham and use Ivydale Rd. then go via Hollydale Rd, past Queens Rd Peckham stn, Asylum Rd, Studholm St, Naylor Rd, Green Hundred St, across Old Kent Rd from Peckham Park Rd then on to St James’s Rd up to Jamaica Rd and then over Tower Bridge. Probably not a quiet as Surrey canal but usually pretty chilled, definitely not busy, apart from Tower Bridge of course, that’s definitely busy.

Not when it's open, hardly anyone passing then...

Priory lane, this morning. Cars driving along the pavement cycle lane to get around the road closure....

this seems a decent route - do you do exactly the same on the way back? tbh I hate going through Peckham anyway so if I could get rid of it forever I'd be so happy
-
• #25772
There is a road closure in Hampstead near the Royal Free. Cars have been doing illegal turns to get around it, but not as disgraceful as this.
-
• #25773
Think this is a classic sheep moment.
Bet the front driver went for it, then everyone behind thought "well if they're doing it...."
What this doesn't show is that the road is closed for about 5 meters. They had road closed signs up yesterday morning, but the road was still open, and even now part of it is coned off, some temp traffic lights would have been easy.
Anyway, as no one appears to have been hugely inconvenienced, we can all probably carry on with our lives.
-
• #25774
Yep, exactly the same on the way back. I use the shared use ped/cycle bridge over the railway between Brockley Way and Eddystone Rd and then back streets to Forest Hill and Sydenham.

excellent, thanks!
Ahhh, I'll give this a go, ta!
