Training with the club last night, jfc. Plan was to do some hill reps on the local trails. I was keen to get warmed up so met another runner a bit earlier with the idea of doing a couple of extra warm-up miles into my legs rather than jump straight into the reps. Ended up doing about 9km on the trails then straight into the reps. Two reps in I’m dying and then I realised I’d only had a smoothie and a couple of crumpets all day and had to sneak back to the car to grab some gels and water.
Did some more reps and headed up the hill, following another runner, assuming it was the last rep only for them to turn around and head back down - and being the stupid sod I am, I followed. I think it’s the first time I’ve ever had to have a sit down mid hill rep!
All in, about 19km and 1000m ascent - like doing a bloody lakes fell Race! On a bloody Tuesday, in the dark.
