It would be better, it's just unlikely. You'll probably produce a number of fair players who can plug the gaps which is a part of it but the chance of producing a "star" who's going to consistently play for and improve a top team is more like a once in a generation thing.

I did that in terms of first job, starting as graduate trainee, got training, got better/more experienced, stayed longer and was relatively underpaid, because of loyalty to company and then fucked off when I'd become disillusioned.
For those who didn't come through the ranks at company, the cycle of being enthused/enjoying the job/place and fucking off was a whole load shorter..

I'd say sixteen. I'm aware that a lot of players shift around at 16 when the 90 minute distance rules end (including a lot from overseas) but in my view academy products are those who were there from young.

spurs Chelsea nicely poised. sounded like Chelsea should have had something from that game.

It was poor all the way around apart from a couple of Kane strikes and hazard threatening most of the second half..
We played poorly and spent far too much time playing it aimlessly across the back line with Gazzaniga being particularly culpable. Lots of chances to free Trippier on the right but kept refusing it. Winks was ineffective never wanting to turn when he received the ball and play it forward. Son was open with a ball over the top all game long but we weren’t trying to play that way.

Frustrating waiting for VAR to tell us what we all knew, that it was a penalty.
Sissoko was all over the place, misplaced a pass to set up eriksen late in the first half.

Chelsea had the better of the 2nd half, lots of shots on target, but nothing that felt super threatening. Best chance came first half from a deflected Hudson odoi cross that Gazzaniga smuggled onto the crossbar/post and Toby cleared off the line.

Ps Hudson odoi until hazard kicked on 2nd half was the most threatening Chelsea player. Barkley didn’t do much, Willian meh, felt like Chelsea needed a striker on the pitch to provide some focal point for their attack.

Loved Lamela getting stuck in as soon as he came on, Kane with some great touches under pressure, Sissoko trying to make the runs, and that was about it.

I’ll take 1-0 but would have been happier with another..

offside law confuses me, Sarri is going on about how Kane's upper body was past the defender so was offside, when did the law change, I though there had to be clear space between defender and attacker for the attacker to be offside? For a linesman to make the call on a body part seems well fucking difficult.

Chelsea have been stuffed with offside calls recently and when one gets called right it's overturned by var.

If he's offside, he's offside and the linesman got that right.

I think you will find that 90% of the stadium were Tottenham supporters. Hardly an appropriate measure.

Skillful dive as well by Kane. Whether or not there was contact, the boy has clearly been practising. But of course, "He's not that kind of player".

Seven free kicks awarded for fouls on Hazard. Numerous others where the advantage was played. Only two bookings. A ludicrous suggestion considering this is one of football's oldest and most widely used tactics. Is there a single club who hasn't hacked the shit out of Hazard this year? He's probably the best player in the league and his club has a severe over-reliance him. It isn't pretty, but it's sensible strategy to employ.

Your grievances lie with the league that isn't protecting its star/highly skilled players and your club that hasn't sought to protect him or acquire other attacking players that can actually score goals.

...which is why he'll fuck off to Real Madrid this summer.
