• I sent the video on a USB stick. That went missing, opened before it arrived apparently. So sent them links for online source.

Yesterday: "I have forwarded the link onto our section that copies the CCTV data onto a disc for me to be able to view, but due to overwhelming volumes, I am still waiting for this to be completed."

  • If everything is this fractured no wonder shit gets missed/lost/not actioned.
I wonder if the person who turns on their computer is away and you'll have to wait for them to come back.
How about insurance company and all that jazz?!

  • I emailed the insurance company to tell them I'm going to be claiming against one of their drivers.

    Got this a week ago:
"We refer to the above matter and confirm receipt of your correspondence.
As is our protocol on these types of incidents we have arranged for one of our Claims Investigators to meet with our driver and obtain a detailed account of the incident.
We hope to have our investigators report and driver's statement very shortly and once this is received and reviewed we will be in a position to respond fully to your recent correspondence.
Please bear with us until then."

  • Still all very early stages.
Are the police investigating at all other than just waiting for the video evidence?
Apologies for the questions I'm just interested in case I need to go through the same process.
From what I've read the Police pretty much see it as civil offence to be dealt with by insurance companies. And if you want them to investigate properly you have to be on their case constantly.
Insurance companies seem better and just fact lead although they don't 'want' to pay out but with the video evidence it would be hard to wriggle out of.

  • "Please bear with us until then."

Maybe telling them that you'll be claiming for daily taxi costs into the city until you're back in the position you were in before their driver fucked up your only means of transport will make them get a move on?

  • Probably not worth messing with that kind of thing? I'm sure they could just see on twitter I'm still riding and then throw the whole claim out or some shit. Maybe I could spend the money to fix my bike and then start charging them interest on my expenses?

  • Being on their case constantly is what I'm all about. I'll email them until they stop responding and then start calling. If I have to start doing police shop visits I'll be sending the insurance company the bill for that too. Actually I might try and burn a CD with the videos on and send it to her. That might stop this whole waste of fucking time. I think the burner in my old laptop still works.

  • You hold down the button on the front to turn it off or you can set a time for auto off once recording is stopped. So when I press the button on the top to stop recording, it turns itself off in 1 min. I didnt bother getting a remote because I mount my camera on the stem so it’s easily reachable.

  • I mount my bike on the stem so it’s easily reachable.

I like the idea that your stem floats in mid air and you then attach the bike to it.

  • 🤦🏻‍♀️ Mid morning post failed... you knew exactly what I meant! 😅

  • Picked up a fly 6ce for £120 from Crc. Fed up of close passes and want it on film. Reckon that’s a good price for it!

  • @skinny I think I downloaded a free version of Lightworks. It takes a little bit of googling to work out how to do anything but it was quick enough to cut up my crash video and save it as something useful for the cops.

  • Did you get that punishment pass on film?

  • Yeah, it's fucking insane.

  • Im after a waterproof action cam that also has GPS.
*that isnt a Gopro or Vibr

    Can anyone recommend anything?

  • One of my cheapo action cams doesn’t want to charge anymore, think it’s the USB port that’s stopped working, guess that’s it then, it can go to the bin?

  • What's the difference between Fly6 and the newer CE?

    http://actioncamerafinder.com/compare/cycliq-fly-6-v-vs-cycliq-fly-6-ce-spec-comparison

Okay, wider view, bit better quality and maybe slightly longer battery life. Still not long enough and still too expensive though.

I've asked them for a dynamo version.

  • Realistically they’ll never make it more than 7hours. They reduced the fly 12 battery life. Most people only ride a few hours.

Just use an external battery pack.

  • use an external battery pack.

Then it's not waterproof. The USB connector is under a waterproof flap. Lift that to connect external power and it's not waterproof any more. I've not seen the CE version to compare.

  • Ah yeah fair point.

  • GoPro Seat Rail mount £11.99, was £39.99. Chinese copies are similar price, seems a bargain for a genuine one.

  • Bought a set of Cyliq lights/cameras (as I’m definitely going to die on my new commute in Hertfordshire - been forced off the road and even wingmirror clipped in the few weeks since moving here).

Anyway I’ve downloaded the Cyliq-plus app which only seems to concern the settings of the cameras rather than being able to actually view the footage.

The Cycliq website suggests downloading VLC Player or Videopad (I have a Mac) but they seem pretty complicated and the video keeps jumping / freezing (perhaps I’m trying to watch the footage straight from the camera rather than downloading the video first?). Basically I’m completely terrible with computers and need and easy way to watch and edit down videos so I can roadsafe them (got some prick deliberately driving at me yesterday).

I did have a good trawl though this thread but couldn’t find an obvious solution. Cheers!

  • Did you try https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/vpsetup.exe ?

I use this on PC. It would help having the video on the HDD rather than the device but I normally play it from the device in VLC to find the file I'm after.

It took me 5min to work out how to trim video in Videopad. Off the top of my head it's something like:

    Open the original file.
In the top right box, drag the blue/red sliders on the timeline around the incident.
Drag this down into the bottom timeline thing.
    Menu > Export to file

    Something like that.

  • I've just read my previous message and it was actually Lightworks I used
    https://www.lfgss.com/comments/14548321/

So maybe I have two video editing packages. It was definitely the free version of VideoPad I used yesterday.
