  • I had a quote from a local fitter of £1250 for three windows 80cm x 150cm-ish

he uses real wood and is a one-man-band which is why I think (hope) he's pricey

I've got Hillarys and Utterlyshutterly coming over in the next fortnight to give quotes so I'll let you know if the bigger companies are any cheaper...

  • I just got a quote from a local company for 1k... think most will be quite similar as they all come from China (the shutters, not the companies supplying) so same costs.
I'm seeing if this place come out bout the same for original real proper good honest hard working British wood shutters.. https://periodprojects.co.uk/

  • My guy was proud to source his material from Wickford, at that price though I would prefer the Chinese stuff. I did ask of the benefits of real wood > MDF but he failed to provide a decent argument. Wood is lighter but with the right fittings that shouldn't matter.

I was anticipating circa £1k, hopefully I can get cheaper in the Hillary's Jan sales or something

  • FYI Hillarys quoted £1700 for the same job but have a better-price-promise-thing, so £1200ish again. Only benefit is that they offer a 9 month 0% interest finance option which is good, but still expensive.
