  • I was deliberately looking in that area because fuck people, not really seriously looking atm though. I think longer term France is a more likely destination when I move on.

  • Nicer quiet places up here.

    East coast doesn’t have as much rain or god awful midgees.

  • My mother and sister both live in Argyll, I know the area quite well from visiting over the last 15 years.

    Yes, the landscape is wonderful and property is cheap and it's quiet and there aren't many people. The community vibe is quite strong in the villagey areas.

    On the downside; the weather is really grim, there are more or less no jobs, no broadband, midges 6 months of the year, you have to drive everywhere, road traffic accidents are common, it takes ages to get to anywhere.

    Oh, and the towns are grim, too. Check out Dunoon.

    IMO you need a reason to be there.
