  • As much as there are some good solutions here (many thanks, all), I think you’re right. I have the skills to do an ok-ish job of this, but on balance I’d rather it was done properly. I reckon I’ll get myself to Argos and failing that, buy a chrome fork that looks shit with my frame :-)

  • New project on its way from the US to my place.

  • 1"?

I had some old Kona (I think paddy wagon) forks on my viv. They fit the prescription.

  • Threw this together from the parts bin to keep at my parents house. Still need to dial the position a little before taping the bars, and it will probably also get some mudguards. Trying to resist spending money on it, but I think it would benefit from a -17 stem and more fashionably shaped compact drops.

  • Put a quill stem and compact bars on it and it will look ace. Don't ruin it with mudguards...

  • Thanks. It will be a long term project as era correct (Ritchey-) parts might be hard to find (and expensive). And now I first have to recover financially from the purchase. ;)

  • New Farsports wheels for the gravel bike, gone tubeless for the first time, also found some XTR pedals cheap so out with the 520s. I spent quite a bit of time last year on this so I'm thinking of gradually improving it, eventually going hydro I reckon this year and possibly using it as winter bike as well as gravel/Cx.

  • Put some compact drops and slick tyres on my Wolverine to turn it into the ultimate winter mile muncher. Much better for road riding than the VentureMax bars that were on there. Also got rid of the Wolftooth Roadlink that I didn’t get on with.

  • Also decided to relive my London fixie skidder days (although I’m not sure how safe that’ll be now living in Edinburgh) and picked up a rather tasty track frame.

May start a current projects but I’m not likely to start buying parts for it until March.

  • This is a very quick project. Built this Bill Nickson frame up two years ago for my partner, but daily commuting and two tours started putting numerous chips in the paint. To make things worse, the decals were never put under a lacquer, so started peeling off. Went with Aurum coating to get a powder coat, they managed to keep the chromed stays and lugs, and now it has a tough new finish, that will hopefully look good for a few years.

  • What issues did you have with road link?

  • Any chance of a close up of your rear light mount?

  • Still very much a work in progress.

Having issues with usb out from the dynamo and need to cable up rear light.

Front light will sit below rawland rack.

    But super fun to ride.

  • Very tight. Love the orange on those frames.

  • Looks great fun!
Which Farsports wheelset did you go for?

  • Shifting was a bit naff and then realised that there was only one hill that I’d ever come across on that bike that I really needed a larger cassette for.

  • Sure! It’s just the standard Supernova tail light on a Paul Gino mount. Works great and frees up the seatpost for bags. Also moves the light out of the worst of the spray when not running mudguards.

  • Ah that looks perfect. Have a Gino mount sat doing nothing.

  • Yh but you soon get used to the way it looks

  • Finished this build today, first impressions are that it's super short in comparison to my Straggler, no more stretching out like a lizard.
