  • Slightly O/T but could't find a 'what inner tube' thread.

I've switched to 28mm tyres (from 23mm) on my winter bike (Pro4 endurance and next I will try GP5000) and I have been using the last of my Vittoria Ultralight 19-23 inner tubes in them.

Now I need to get some now inner tubes and was wondering if there is a inner tube of choice for 28mm tyres on 30mm deep rims? I want them to be as small as possible when packed as I carry them in my pocket or on longer trips will take quite a few.

Is it a really bad idea to use 19-23 tubes in them? So far I have had no issues - punctures I have had are due to big bits of flint/glass that would have punctured any tube.

  • I usually carry a latex tube, or a butyl tube and some self gluing patches. I'd rather have tubeless in anything bigger than 25 anyways
