  • Does mdcc_tester agree?

It's certainly overpriced, partly because of some odd choices by SRAM. For what it is, the only excuse for being more expensive than Apex1 is the shorter production run, and that doesn't justify being double the price.

  • Even used? They seem to go for 60-80 on here and yeah even seen new ones for 100-120.

  • So this might be a stupid question, but the Miche 'Evo Max' BBs that they say go with the Pistard 2.0 and Pistard Air cranks... they are their own standard, right? So not like the SRAM GXP BBs, and also not like Hollowtech II BBs, and therefore not interchangeable with either of them?

  • Using an Ultegra BB with my Pistard Airs

  • and also not like Hollowtech II BBs, and therefore not interchangeable with either of them?

The ID is apparently 24mm so possibly compatible with HT2, depending on the width of the external cups.

  • So a Hollowtech II BB, and no issues? That sounds good.

    @Howard

I'll check it out re widths, thanks!

  • Yep. Chainring tabs get a bit close to the chainstay, but not sure if that's down to NDS cup being too narrow or just chunky stays on my T3.

  • Nice! Cervelo T3?

  • When we were young

  • Ah man that's a beautiful bike.

  • Once upon a time

Once and future, surely? If I get my way, you won't need the disc and tribars when you make your comeback as a veteran, but the frame will still be OK

  • Still gotta do a 24

  • Ok so I'll conclude from that that if I were to use a Pistard crank, I should be able to get away with using a normal Hollowtech II BB, which massively increases the number of BB options available. Thanks!

  • Gent wanted to buy wheelset from me offering payment via BACS which I (this might have seemed a bit weird) strongly advised against, recommending that he only pays for goods (from complete strangers) via Paypal goods/services (no issue with covering fees), my thinking that when he pays in good faith via BACS and receives his wheels he'll use the same method to someone else next time and be fleeced!!! Anyway no great drama although he needed a bit of hand holding to pay via PayPal which he's now done however he sent via PayPal gift - shall I just send the wheels out to him anyway or get back in touch, refund and hand hold him through the goods and services payment? is there any real risk to me as a seller?
    Cheers

  • Meh. Vacuum cleaner is goosed, despite my best efforts to revive it. Are new ones all shit since the power reduction regs? (Changes not that recent, but we've not bought one in 10 years) Any recommendations?

  • If not Nilfisk, then Miele.
    Noo noo.

  • There is no risk to the seller if the buyer pays through paypal gift.

If he had paid with good/services then there is more risk to the seller, as they can claim the wheels are damaged/unusable etc then get a refund. Paypal always seem to side with the buyer.

  • Thanks for your input. I'd heard and read a bit about seller protection against unscrupulous charge backs etc, then again as you said, there are more straightforward attempts, under goods/services, to rip genuine sellers off I guess ("oh, the box was empty" etc)

    I'll get them posted.

    Cheers

  • They perhaps don't make Meile like they used to (in terms of 'pull your carpet up' power); then again they're much cheaper than they were and ours does is perfectly adequate. Still find the 'cheap', albeit from big/well known manufacturers, bagless ones aren't as good as the 'bagged'. Maybe a Henry/Hetty?

  • Excellent. Thanks (and @Pasty_Spumante). Was looking at Miele already, but not sure about the lower power ratings. Nilfisk lab kit used to be pretty bombproof (big, shiny steel things), so I'll have a look - presumably their consumer stuff isn't in the same league?

(Kids would love a Henry, I'm sure!)

  • I have 750 Avios points which I am unlikely to ever use and definitely not before they expire, which is in two months. BA tell me I can transfer them to anyone; so does anyone want them?

  • Can you exchange them for items rather than miles?

  • I have no idea but 750= Not very much. https://www.avios.com/gb/en_gb/spend/what-can-you-spend-your-avios-on
I rarely fly with BA but Avios can be used with other carriers too.
If anyone wants them PM me.

  • Is there a way for somebody to send you money without them finding out any of your personal details? A friend of mine had a windscreen wiper pulled off their car by somebody that was trying to assault them. I'm not sure how it's come about but the wife of the person attempting to commit the assault has offered to pay to replace the wiper. Obviously my friend doesn't want these people to know anything about them!
