loving running in the new year, pitch black run on Tuesday night in the fields and woods near my house and a lovely sun rise threshold session this morning, even took a picture at the end and everything!
no spring marathon for em this year, as the main focus this year is Ironman Austria in July, i'd like to get back to sub 18 park run again, so that's my focus for the spring! focus is getting down towards race weight, and building up to my other challenge for the year, 5x5k all under 20 minutes...

I have a mate from Run Dem (and member of my hansons marathon method cult) who is based in melbourne now, he's a top bloke and runs with AM:PM RC. definitely give them a go as they'll be heavily social but have some decent runners too. his name is Kevin Lai

Basically perfect running conditions, no one else at the lake, no wind, cold but I run super hot so was fine in tights and T-shirt and some chilled music (briefly thought I might need to change to something a little more aggressive but couldn’t be assed to get phone out to change!)

What do you mean 5x5k all under 20? Do you mean 25k under 1hr 40?
-
• #19884
no, its an interval session, so
10 min warm up
5k
5 min recovery
5k
5min recovery
5k
5min recovery
5k
5 min recovery
5k
collapseit's quite heavy session in terms of training load, 200+ tss for me for training peaks users, obviously different depending on how hard a 20 min 5k is for you!

Ah Wanstead flats is the one I was thinking of. Might check out hackney marshes this weekend.

good luck! I'mm at the Essex XC champs at 12, so won't be parkrunning (I don't think).
Keep an eye out for a yellow double pushchair with twins in, or an Eton Manor tshirt. I'm bald, and have a beard.
Good luck tomorrow!

Anyone have any experience of setting up a parkrun? A club mate and I are thinking about it and I'd be interested to hear any stories (good or bad).

I know one of the organisers for hilly fields parkrun, could ask him if he'd be up for giving you some tips. think he took over when it was already established though.

That'd be great! Any advice welcome tbh, I've never done anything like this...

have pinged him a message to ask if he'd mind you emailing him, will let you know.

Yep, I started Beckenham Place parkrun. Happy to have a chat. I’m not involved anymore but went through the whole process: getting approval from the council; finding funding; placating NIMBYs etc.
It’s a bit of work but totally doable and quite rewarding. The world needs more parkruns...

Totally! We are in a small town with a big green space but the "local" parkruns all require a car to get to. I might drop you a pm later if that's ok?

This chap was on the December Runner's World podcast - seems like a good cause so thought I'd put it here. He's running to every Burnley away game this season to raise money for Burnley FC in the Community

Anyone got any advice on light ankle straps for an ankle that rolls at will when running?
I’m doing strength routines but would feel a lot better with a light support.

Of course.
I did Wanstead flats on NYD. Hackney Marshes normally.
Might see you down there, except I've got no idea what you look like
