  • Also after the ending there's an 'easter egg' of an audio file which sounds like an ZX Spectrum game loading, spectrum analysis shows a QR code, which takes you to...their website.

  • can this black mirror nonsense be watched in a purchasable format or does it require netfilx in oder for it to make any sense?

    worth bothering?

  • You can "purchase" what says it is the default choice run through, but you'll miss out on any actual playing along.

  • You'll have to Netflix it on certain things as well, mainly pc, phone, console or newer telly. I had to install console app but there was a free months trial option on it before I signed in, so might be able to do that just to snatch some bands.

  • Didn't we already do this in the CD-ROM 'interactive storytelling revolution' of the late 90s? 💩

  • Was kinda annoyed it wouldn't work over phone/chromecast but easy enough to fire up the Xbox.

  • fuck that noise, i'm out.

  • Yeah, but this is done pretty well I think, and it's a choose your own adventure telly, about a choose your own adventure game, based on a choose your own adventure book, so layers of fun/shit depending on your opinion. I thought it was good, but I'm not sure I want the "format" to carry on too much. It's probably all based on prons anyway, which is the only other kind of "story" where it could make sense.

  • "Will you take the pink pill or the brown?"

  • I found it a massive drag too, I don’t know if people just want to love everything black mirror now or if people actually really like it.

  • black mirror is the banksy of tv.

  • Caught Crocodile Dundee 2 before I head out. Cracking stuff.

  • I got to what felt like the end ( i briefly saw some credits) then had to sit through another 30 odd minutes while it played through every other branch in what felt like a set order.

if felt like playing a game you've finished already and have hit 98% total completion on and you're stuck running all over the map for the final few collectibles even though you've already seen everything. more a chore for the sake of seeing it done than "must know what happens next".

technological breakthrough, yes. engaging story, meh.

  • Watching Roma was my new year's eve. Dimi's "Good but sad" captures it well.

    So well made and beautiful.

  • I found it a massive drag too, I don’t know if people just want to love everything black mirror now or if people actually really like it.

I was thinking this with the last series but the new one confirmed it. That or it's a story that was crap and didn't get made in the 1st series and then whoever makes black mirror had a hard on for it ever since so made an extra long crap story while being self aware they can slap black mirror name on anything and have a load of people who didn't understand it say it was great as they finished watching game of thrones and want to keep up with the trends.

  • Bird Box - pretty good, would recommend. (available on Netflix)
BlacKkKlansman - good watch, sad that people are still cunts after all this years.
Bad Times at the El Royale - reminded me of Tarantino's "Four Rooms" which I really like too

  • I mostly just come to this thread to say things are shit but I watched The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and really enjoyed it.

  • Also Death Race: Beyond Anarchy. Many explosions, 12/10.

  • The Favourite is great.

    Very bizarre and funny.

It reminded me more of the Young Pope than any film I'd seen. I'm going to have to watch that again because it was amazing too.

  • Great film yah. Just saw green Book. Enjoyed a lot.

  • I, Tonya. Meh.

Much like 3 Billboards, Tonya seems like it relies on swearing for laughs (or that I just didn't find it funny), so the drift from funny to sad over the film just became unfunny to sad.
I feel like the whole thing was done really well - it looks good, the acting is good etc - it just didn't land for me at all.

    Free Solo - absolute belter.
Managed to stay on point, doesn't exaggerate because it doesn't need to, really honest and incredibly well shot. Amazed that a mainstream climbing film entertains everyone from serious climbers to people coming in completely cold.
    Seriously recommended.

  • Yup, Free Solo was great. Honold is nuts.

Worth checking out Meru as well, also by/with Jimmy Chin.

  • Enjoyed Cold War, definitely felt film noir emphasised by the use of black and white

  • Skyscraper tonight, typical action movie Bruce Willis used to make. My wife said watching it had made her feel exhausted, we both liked the closing line delivered by our hero who appeared to be completely unaware of the irony.

  • I rewatched Sexy Beast for the first time in years. Some truly inspirational swearing.
