  • I'm thinking about hitting up the IKEA PR office to see if they will support us in some way. Free meatballs?

  • IKEA Stratford isn’t exactly inside, it’s on a section known as ‘The Street’, it’s pedestrianised but you can easily walk past the door and drop something on your foot.

  • Excellent. Although it is important to point out that the IKEA stress fracture I sustained all of those years ago was caused by simply walking around the place, not by anything as exciting as dropping a full FRAKTA on it.

  • Here is the Cable Car variation route:

  • 36 gondolas..... 2 bikes per gondola.....

    Can we?

We'd only need 36 to have a southbound LFGSS airline.

  • With outstanding views of the queue of traffic heading towards the Blackwall Tunnel?

If we had one for the ride we could load it up with dime bars.. just saying

  • Yes, it's grim round there. Hemmed in by fairly main roads.

  • Due to recent events - dislocating my shoulder last week - I may have to delay this.

I will know more after the 22nd Jan when I have a hospital appointment.

In the meantime: roof garden, fuck yeah!

  • Ouch, heal up soon!!
    Roof garden, ftw.....

  • Hope we're not waiting on the NHS for this now?
    Wishing you speedy recoveries anyways

  • Hi all,

I am still awaiting an all clear from the (yet to start) physio for me to be able to ride. Which is very frustrating.

Hoping to schedule this ride for March at some point.

In the meantime I believe that the Greenwich IKEA is now open. Fill your meatball shaped boots.

  • Yep! Went there this evening! (FYI: the roof terrace isn’t officially open until April)

  • Ooooh, was it in any way brilliant?

  • Given the news about the roof terrace, shall we schedule this ride for April then?

  • I'd vote yes - will also give you more time to undislocate your shoulder (sorry to hear about that).

I can see the headline now:

For the love of meatballs: Cyclists ride between all of Ikea's London stores without any GEARS

(make sure you mention the no gears bit if you do)

  • Paging @BRM

  • Went past on the way to Charlton this AM; traffic normal no gridlock/ queues/ carmegaddon in evidence. Still the same shitty roundabout with Audis jumping red lights though

  • I went to one of the pre opening IKEA Family member days a week before the official opening.
First impression was a massive food hall eatery with some home furnishing to browse.
The roof garden wasn't open but I went out there anyway. Nothing planted up yet.
Views of the traffic on the Blackwall tunnel approach and in the distance my home.
I bought a vegetarian hot dog for 50p and a big bag of these ...

  • Date proposal:

    Saturday 27th April.

    Start in Croydon at 9.45am.

9am if you want to join me for an IKEA breakfast before rolling.

Let me know how that suits?

  • That would suit.

  • In

  • Is this a SS/FG ride primarily?

  • It's primarily a meatball/hot-dog ride.
