No issues, tonnes of clearance...that’s it really. The original forks weighed an absolute ton.

Thinking of getting a Longitude frameset to replace my C'dale M800 for comfy commuting and future bikepacking. There is a 2017 frameset for sale locally, but would need a powdercoat.
Anyone have one? Would like to hear some real world experience stories.

Just curious, what's the biggest tyre anyone has fit on their Croix de Fer?

why not vagabond?

Mudguard or not?
-
• #607
I'm not too bothered about mudguards so without.

I've just picked up a Longitude f+f, probably build it up in the new year. Had been looking at the Vagabond beforehand.
Is there much difference beyond 27.5+ / drop bar geo?

How big are those racing ralph's/which width bluemels are they?

Here's the clearance with 35s, I think it'll clear 42, rim dependent!

Managed to clear 42 x 700C (WTB resolute) without mudguards. The limiting factor isn't actually the clearance to the stays, but the clearance between the front derailleur lever and the tyre when on high gear (clearance is at best 2-3 mm)...
With mudguards, I run 38 x 700C Gravelkings SK without any problems.

Which guards?
I’m on 35mm Clements under longboards but always wondered whether I could squeeze a 38 under them.

That's with SKS BLUEMELS 45 mm guards.

Cheers, reckon I will give it a go then

42c knards got a bit close to the front mech (not a problem for you) and not a great deal of room at the stays. I reckon 40 is about it.

For everyone else's context, I am running 1X.
Have you ridden the Knards? Any good?
-
• #617
Knards are great tyres, although I did suffer several punctures it pretty quick succession (maybe just bad luck). Would be vastly improved if Surly made em tubeless compatible.

Rather enjoying my Day One at the moment - might just convert it to fixed with a 16t 6 bolt disc cog i've got at home.

I need a day one disc in my life. My rim braked version is great, however would love the disc one too!

Size? Got a 50cm I might be listing soon...

• #621
I think I'm a little tall for that

Changed up my day one to add gears. Perfect commuter. Really rate the Vittoria Revolution tyres as well, &
£8 each on PX. Steel bead but roll well and grip well on varied surfaces. Almost sold this when I got my Brompton but glad I kept it. Thanks to @GideonPARANOID for the chain tug mech hanger.

Sweet! What forks (CDF?)and chainset did you go for? My bottom bracket is giving up so I might upgrade the Sturmey Archers
-
• #625
Chainset is the original with a Brompton chainring, with a UN55. Fork is indeed off my CDF.
