The Rapha Festive 500

Off for a 220 Km route tomorrow to finish off my 500. The ride will take me out Deeside into the Cairngorms. At Balmoral I'll head North taking in the Giarnshiel, Lecht and Cabrach climbs.

Bottled it and rode my summer bike. Was about 30 mins quicker over 100, but not as comfortable

20k recovery ride today in super mild Aussie weather, just down to the beach and back. Done.

125km left to go and I've picked up some illness on top of the usual hangovers. Resigned to doing laps of regents as I'm back in london and can't face my usual rides.

Ooof some mental torture over physical!? I’d offer a wheel but I was given a pass yesterday.

Fucked off the turbo-only idea. Did a 200k DIY with the missus yesterday. She has 55ish to go now.

Riding the Festive500 while working a 50 hour week in a busy kitchen is pretty shit. That is all.

That leaves 118 hours to ride in, slacker.

Haha, true. 55 miles around East Lothian and my 4 mile commute to work today means I have completed it. Now for a 10 hour shift, woohoo!

37Km to do tomorrow, which looks achievable- therefore biblical flooding will occur later tonight.

Took a mate for a couple of laps of RP.

We made it 3.43k before he flatted, then exploded the tube as it wasn't seated right. It was just like a small-scale forum ride.

501km, good enough

Yeah 501 here too, I’m done with bikes until next year now.

That was an eventual day in the saddle, 3 punctures and pretty flat profile. But overall it was a fun day out!

Also finished the festive 500 today with a last minute idea of a recovery ride in the Kent lanes. It was great to see @Hovis and @TTM at Ide café. Thanks for the bants, hope you guys enjoyed smashing them hills after your café stop.

Now rest and getting all the food in my belly again.

Finished today at 518k with a lonely smash around the Velopark. Steady approach for me this year, didn't really push myself too much. However, riding with a few different friends has made it for me this time around. Chapeau to everyone else who has finished.

+1 Finished it today clocking up 548k in total over the week in 19h. I think thats an average of just under 18mph riding around Essex so not exactly flying but i was riding with mudguards etc. Its been a good, ive ventured to places ive not gone to before and managed to use a few roads that would normally be too busy. Buying some decent lights and getting motivated by this challenge help me smash my previous best monthly total which i totally didnt expect at the beginning of December.

19 laps of regents and some errands later have pushed me just over the line. It wasn't too tough, I saw a giraffe. Another great season of eating all Christmas food and managing to lose weight

I'm done. It was a lot easier this year than last - I don't think I sweated at all last year, I froze more than anything.
