  • This was on ebay for 500 euros 2 weeks ago...

  • Plus 150 for shipping....

Now 600 pounds at the door.

  • 500 euros, + 150 for shipping does not equal 600 at the door, even though it didn't sell on ebay which suggests it may be overpriced

  • I have shipped bikes to taiwan, thailand, america etc... it never costs 150 to post... £50 MAX for EU
Don't forget ebay & paypal will take 14% in fees!

Sorry for trashing the thread, nice bike your pricing just doesn't make sense

  • Nbenja3, which country do you live ? From Spain shipping is costly... Anyhow any suggestion on how to ship bikes/frames from Spain is welcomed.

In ebay I've got only around 500 visits in 20 days so I can agree this bike / frame does not generate much interest, and the price can not a bargain but I consider it a fair price (excl. shipping costs). In my oppinion.

Anyhow, if anyone is interested I'm more than willing to offer free collection so the buyer arranges the shipping.

  • https://www.transglobalexpress.co.uk/quote/quote/ i would suggest using this website... ideal bike box size for packing is 100x30x70. i can send a bike from spain to the UK for £19 using that website...

  • I wouldn't say the bike price is that high.. your shipping price is just killer

  • Beautiful bike, I have never seen a seat collar bolt like that.

  • to ship that from the UK using Parcel Force would cost about £200 with insurance. Also if you read, it says £600 including shipping in this thread, so you could take it as bike £500, shipping £100, which as it has been said £500 is a fair price for bike itself already means £100 for shipping, whilst high, is not completely over the top

  • 100 pound it totally over the top!! you need to shop around for couriers more... it's literally £20 (before tax) with DPD collected from spain and delivered to the UK

  • from the UK using Parcel Force would cost about £200 with insurance.

No it wouldn't, especially with places like parcel2go etc. Shipping from Spain to UK is not as cheap but well under £100 insured from places like Pharos Parcel etc.

  • parcels2go just quoted me £70 for a frame with value of £600, thats 5kg or under, and thats with frame wrapped obviously in foam piping, dropout protectors etc. I only send around 150 frames a year so you may have more experience than myself, but for me its the insurance that bumps up the price whichever courier you use

  • You're kidding me? About two years ago I sold my WS track to Malaysia and there was NO way to send it for less than a good £250, I'm talking of the smallest bike box you can fit a medium frame with most of the parts removed.
Last month I sent four hubs to Thailand and it went over £25. A Sram groupset to France? £28 cheapest. I can't believe you can send a 100cm box for twenty quids :-O

  • Thanks for the comments about shipping cost. 20 pounds should be enough for wrapping material and a box but definitelly not for shipping a bike....

Anyhow, offers around asking price are welcomed if anyone has real interest on the bike.

I'm just uploading a pic of the same frame (with Banesto decals and Campy groupset ).

  • Malaysia for 140 GBP. Full complete bike, 12kg
You need to shop around a bit more ;)

  • New price 525 pounds shipping included

  • is that fully insured, in the sellers case that would be for around £725 including insuring your actual outlay for shipping which you will not get back if you make a claim ? and of course that does not include around £15 for adequate packaging.

  • Moved to ebay. Thread can be deleted...

  • I never insure unless the buyer requests. Complete frame covered in pipe insulation, nothing able to move in the box as its packed out with cardboard etc.. near impossible to damage. £500 insurance to malaysia costs £10 using the website i use. https://www.transglobalexpress.co.uk/
The prices for sending abroad are unbeatable..

  • What about loss during transit? You’re fucked with no insurance.

  • Have to agree with Pifco, until the item arrives at the buyer, the loss is the sellers responsibility, so I would never risk losing that much money. Besides, so thats, £140 to ship, another at least £10 to insure, another £15 for packaging, it seems to me the sellers original quote for shipping wasn’t so outrageous after all !

  • the sellers original quote was from spain to the UK.... the example i used was for malaysia.
Fully insured from spain costs 35 pound!
Parcel losses are generally due to improper label attachment. pretty hard to lose a 1 metre long box! lets hope i don't jinx myself.. haha

  • loss maybe, but I have seen guys standing on the boxes, and have received probably 30-40 bikes damaged in transit. From Italy we would ship 400 bikes a year, probably the same again or more in frames / wheels and around 2k of components. The courier services from Spain are notoriously bad, and many are damaged, shopping around for the best price does not mean getting the best service, just the cheapest. You are correct, shipping from Italy to Malasia / Thailand etc is €90 PosteItaliane without insurance, but still everyone uses it, and from UK is £110, insured to £100, but if you are sending anything of value, you use the companies where you can at least attempt a claim for loss or damage. These 3rd Party couriers, who sell another companies product, create a chain that becomes unclaimable, so on your head be it. For me, as a buyer, I will pay more for shipping knowing I can track it correctly and the seller can claim, and always ask for a PayPal request, pay the extra 5% , and be safe. If you are spending a lot of money, calculate the extra cost when buying.
