I can't vouch for that brand but I've had two very similar telescoping pole stands (https://www.evanscycles.com/minoura-bike-tower-stand-00103512) in my bedroom for ~8 years and they're fine. Only stupid people who can't read instructions have issues with them.

Hey, I recognise me in that statement!

Minoura Gravity stand - just leans against the wall
https://www.evanscycles.com/minoura-gravity-stand-00103513
Mine is 5 years old and is still bang on
This actually looks like a damn good solution.
Am enquiring with Hovis about his telescopic one, but this looks ace too.

Surely the point of buying a flat is so you can drill holes in all the walls.

I'll do that once I know where everything is going to go.
I'm in the "moving things around to see if they work there" stage of things. I've never had so much space.

You're a smart person. Reading instructions is optional.
Until it goes wrong, because you're not as smart as you thought, and then we get to mock you relentlessly for not reading the instructions. :)

Yeah, but then when you move around you have to fanny about filling holes.

owning your own home is literally about spending time drilling and filling holes.

I leave that kind of thing to my missus. I bought a place that was liveable so I didn't have to do any work to it. She loves a bit of plastering/painting whereas I'm quite happy writing my name in my own shit when I want to spruce up the place.

What model is this? Looks good. Is it holding up ok?

Does anyone have experience with a Steady Rack? Not sure if they're easily gotten outside of Aus. Thinking about a few for our new gaff.

It's this one.
It's holding up well - no rust or mechanism issues; looks really smart still.
Only thing is that being metal, it gets a fair bit of condensation inside if in sunlight so I'd recommend getting some silica gel to keep the inside dry if you keep a few bikes in there otherwise contact points like saddles and handlebars can get a little moldy.

I was looking at maybe getting on of them. How many bikes can you actually fit in there comfortably ?(nice bikes that don't want to get scratched at all that is)
I need something that's low down to fit below a ground floor window, but as roomy as possible for all the bikes and whatnot....

I guess it depends on bar type etc but narrow-ish road bikes, you'd easily get 4, maybe 5 in there. I've got a wide bar mountain bike, wide bar town bike, and an electric bike in there comfortably, along with a pressure washer and some other things.

Topeak one good for me as well - never fallen over, no idea how people are getting theirs too, mine has been absolutely rock solid as it presses itself into the ceiling, so there is some tension there.

hmm, that's sounds promising. I could fit them all with a daily one in the house...Might stop me buying too many more bikes as well, which will certainly go down well with my wife....

If you're south east, you're welcome to pop around and take a look at it...

I got a Minoura BikeTower10. Same idea as the Topeak. Never fallen down.

To save me going through 45 pages of posts, anyone able to advise on the forum standard vertical wall rack? The kind that hook the front wheel, with the rear wheel against the wall and the bike off the ground?

You could build one super easy out of scaffold bits.
- 1 12’ alu scaff tube (£20)
- 1 (or two) scaff jacks, fiver each
Then just buy any type of mount you like and bolt it to the scaff; something like this; https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N8SUV6H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4dQiCbZXWJFS9
Would be built like a brick outhouse and cost half the pre-made solutions.
An acrow would also work I’d imagine;

Finally have a few quid put aside for a bike shed. Space is limited, need to fit 2/3 adult bikes and one kids bike. Needs to be secure and weatherproof.
Was originally looking at Asgard but can't find a distributor in the Rep. Of Ireland.
Any recommendations?

Standard wooden shed with a ground anchor?
Long as you keep up maintenance they’re dry as a bone and in my eyes look better than metal ones.
I think the topeak one is the most popular. I went for a Minoura equivalent like this
http://www.minoura.jp/english/storage/unavailable/biketower10.html
It grips with a preloaded spring between the floor and ceiling. Works very well and never budged. I was storing 4 bikes on it.
I think its discontinued now, but it works very well. I don't actually need it anymore since I moved house, if you want it drop me a message.
