  • A mere 500k surely not worth doing for you and the other TCR lads and lasses...

  • I've done it enough times already. I might tow the missus around to help her get to 500 but I can't be arsed. I was thinking about doing 500k on the turbo as a new test just to see how much I hate myself but I've got work, planned training and three days of xmas parties to deal with too so it's not likely.

  • Did a steady 70k today, been off the bike for a few days with some sort of lung/ chest lurgy.

4 close passes, 2 dangerous pull out from junctions

    Merry Christmas

  • 4 close passes, 2 dangerous pull out from junctions

Not bad. That's about average for my 12k commute.

  • Bastids, I remember a shockingly close pass Christmas Day last year, and I'm not easily shocked.

  • No excuse. There's fuck all traffic about. D-Lock their faces in. Ho Ho Ho.

  • First 200 done. Time for food and alcohol now.

Some crazy guy on a fixie did 160km. We were all wearing wintervests, long pants and gloves. He showed up in jeans shorts and a sweater. No gloves.

  • Multi task.
Laptop in front of the turbo for work and cycling at the same time. Auchentoshan in the bidon means it's always a party. #yuletidefun

  • Saw a few out today in shorts, was 3 degrees where I am.

Saw another guy doing laps, quick look on his strava shows his biggest monthly ride this year is 22 hours in total so he could be struggling

  • Legs out today, knees were a bit cold with the puddles and road spray but eventually fine. However, my freewheel started screaming like a banshee receiving a non-consensual rectal examination at roughly 68kph. Had to pedal the rest of the 40k home like I was fixed. Think it might be the death of those wheels.
    99.7km in the bag though.

  • My biggest Strava ride until this morning was 58km.

Not everything or in my case anything happens on strava.

  • 2x20s sweetspot so they're just hard enough I can't really concentrate on much else.

My happy hardcore / 90s rave collection means all my turbo workouts are parties. :)

    (39.623 km)

  • So I managed 225km of my planned 250km before I came off on some ice and smacked my head. Think I’m ok but I cracked the helmet so got my dad to come pick me up!

Pity as I was feeling pretty good and would def have got home during daylight (left just after 4am). It all seemed quite easy after climbing over Lammer Muir at 5am, 17% gradients and my bottles turned to slush. Weather was glorious, but sub zero most of the day.

  • Ride out from Aberdeen to Braemar and back via Alford for me. 202km done Avg temp -2 deg C.

    Still defrosting my toes.

  • Fife Arms for Mac and Cheese?

  • Nasty. Be careful, concussion isn’t always obvious and is nasty. Check yourself out, sounds like you took a big hit.

  • I’m def going to take it easy and monitor it. My sister is a doctor and she also used to play a lot of rugby so I’m taking her advice seriously.

  • Ended up starting off nicely with a foggy 199km.couldnt see more than 10m for the first five hours. Feeling smug and clever for picking a flat route.

  • Sounds like you’re set. Hope you’re ok!

  • Ha, both types of qualification there.

  • Yeah I know it's easy to be judgemental, at least he's out there giving it a go.

laps of a park or laps of lake etc take some special motivation

  • Was meant to do an extra 20km tonight out to my parents but ice stopped play.

First day and 60km behind. Had worse starts to it I guess.

  • 245km today doing loops in Fife on the fixed.

The guys I was with managed 370km while I slept in the van.

50 miles planned tomorrow morning so a good start considering I’m still working a 60 hour week.

  • Nice one!

    I’m still frozen too.

  • 64km this morning. Almost certainly won't get the 500 as going to a family gathering (in theory without bike) from the 28th-31st, but you never know. Already defeated last year's 61km for the whole 8 days, but a long way off my successes from 2016 and 2015.
