I don't get why they wouldn't just abandon the drones after, have to be silly to collect them.
-
• #53
They have gps logging inside them so can be tracked.

May have been data or serial numbers that could identify the owner.

Possible, but only if the owner registered with their real details.

If you want to disappear there's nothing better than hi-vis.
It's also perfect around an airport. Everyone will assume you're an airport employee or someone else with a legit reason for flying a drone near an airport.
-

I've trawled for witnesses where the only common fact given was hi-vis. You can get away with blue murder if you're dazzling.

Cycling away with a 4ft and 2ft drones? Get to fuck. It used to be a hassle walking around with a Dji and dedicated backpack, let alone cycling with a 4ft thing.

It's strange that they are still in custody after his boss categorically stated that he was fitting windows. Also strange that there have been no further sightings of drones since their arrest.
-
• #62
It's not unusual that the big ones can be folded

They have been released from custody.
Correlation does not imply causation after all!

Clearly the alibis were correct. They need to arrest him now for wasting police time.

A mate is after a drone to take some aerial photos of the building work of his house.
Any budget suggestions? I assume they want to spend as little as possible.
Also it's in the middle of nowhere.
Cheers

Many estate agents now provide aerial pics, so it might be cheaper and get better results if he made inquiries with one of them to see who they use.

• #67
Good idea... although a bit too sensible.

Granted a drone would be cool but from my limited experience cheap drones produce shit pics. My neighbour borrowed one to assess his flat (loft) roof and asked if I'd like him to film/photo mine. He did but it lacked any real clarity and was a waste of time, but not my time.

I own a drone, but don't know much about them. Several people who know more than me have told me that you need a Mavic Pro as a bare minimum for decent aerial photos that are useful. That means £500+
I've got a Mavic Pro and the photo quality is awesome.

Can anyone recommend a drone for under £1k? Looking to primarily shoot video and will want good neutral raw footage, 2.7K+, good stabilisation etc.
-
• #71
Mavic Pro all the way! Any of the models. 1st gen is a bargain now.
-
• #72
Would love that, but I need it to be new as work are buying. Leaning towards Mavic Air, 3 axis gimbal is sounding good.
Basically I guess I'm asking are DJI the only serious option?
-
• #73
Imho, for the price, there are no competitors to DJI.
No way you can convince them to go the extra for a Mavic pro 2?
-
• #74
I’m pretty amazed they’ve money for anything but I will see what they say about the pro 2. Doesn’t hurt to ask, I guess.

The big range is the deal breaker. Because every company needs to send a drone up to three miles away, right?
I need to be really stealthy so I know I’ll wear hi-vis
