You can use grommets (I find them annoying, the DT one always pops out) or just silicone glue in the cable hole so that the cable is held and stays close to the frame. The silicone is easily removed should you need to remove the cable.

SRAM Etap HRD does anyone have any experience?
It's not that much more than Ultegra Di2 disc and seems a lot less faff!? -
• #3279
It's not that much more because the 'groupset' doesn't come with a chainset, cassette, chain or BB.
-

I get that. Just £300 for the chainset and not sure on the cassette, this is still a bit of an enigma to me. Doesn't seem that crazy given how much less effort it seems with wiring junction box battery etc? Given I'd probably get it on 0%.
Another alternative seems to upgrade my current Ulterga 6800 to Di2 to but seems a relatively expensive way to do it.
I have no experience of electronic shifting. So may well be missing something.

Y tho?

Better shifting and more reliable?
You know I only have the one bike and a second isn't an option.
So kinda my own version of N+1 -

I’m about to fit it to a bike, so can tell you in a few weeks.
I’m a big fan of eTap, been riding it for nearly three years on a rim brake bike and it hasn’t missed a beat. I have a Heath Robinson Di2 installation on my cross bike (using the Hylex kit) which is good, but will change that when funds allow to have shifters in each hood to be able to mimic the eTap shifting mechanism.

I love how autocorrect is on brand for eTap.

Ok great.
In terms of adaptability and within reason. Could you run non standard chain ring combos for example 46/34? -

i've just bought a used set of mixed di2 parts. basically everything is 6870 except the rd, which is the new rx one. i've connected all the wires to test it out before i route it in the bike and the spare 6870 rd shifts like normal but when i connect the rx one it doesn't do anything. i've skimmed the dealer's manual and didn't see anything. trying to actuate the rd seems to be turning on a green light on junction-a. any ideas what to do?

• #3287
Have you updated to the latest version of the Di2 firmware?
-
• #3288
no. is that likely it? i don't have a pc unfortunately. or a d-fly (which i'd also have to update it for, right?)
-
• #3289
You need the right battery and the little EW-WU111 thing then you can update from your phone

anyone here interested in some Ultegra 6770 11s shifters for £70? - these - https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/318809/#comment14165567 - just found them in the shed having forgotten I had them... or does anyone else have all the remaining bits I need to get Di2 working on a frame not designed for Di2?
Cheers,
Matt -

no. is that likely it?
No, it definitely it, if you don't have a computer (which is weird), take it to your LBS and ask them to diagnostic and update the firmware.

A drill?

• #3293
Been there, done that.
-
• #3294
cool thanks. i have a computer ofc, just not a windows one. going to do it with a virtual machine though.

• #3295
Not on Apple dude.

• #3296
You might not need (or actually want) the pc, depending on the combination of components you're using.

Found an issue with Di2 6770 since it was taken of by main road bike. The connecting pin on the external battery mount was corroded so a new Battery mount was sourced.
When hooked up on the bench with a fully charged battery.
Works- Green light comes on the Front Junction box
- Button press gives the RD protection and cycles through all gears using FD and RD
Doesn't work - No response from either levers, to change gear
- Battery check doesn't work when lever held in for 0.5 sec
Switched to another Front junction box thinking it may be the cables, but exactly same symptoms.
Now thinking it may be due to the firmware on the battery mount (SM-BMR1) differing from the rest of the Di2.
Does this sound plausible, appreciate any input on this. - Green light comes on the Front Junction box

Almost certainly a firmware mismatch. Update the firmware before trying anything else.
-
• #3299
This.
Always best to diagnostic it through the software.

Thanks chaps needed a software update, all sorted by Cadence at Crystal Palace. Next step build up the CAAD 10 again!
It's that it just seems a bit in the wind so to speak as I don't have a plug to neaten up the hole. It's my first di2 bike so I probably overthought how it would all look before I finished it (also have bar-end junction box).
As I think about it though, I think I have a di2 grommet somewhere as I got a box of them but only needed one for the entry into the frame.
