IKEA Greenwich to open Feb 7:

It’s the same day as my birthday. I know where I’ll be partying.
-
• #29
Hot dog and free coffee at every ikea?
-
• #30
And ice cream from the coin operated machines.
-
• #31
Or frozen yoghurt or a milkshake too?
-
• #32
Normally I'm strictly an ice-cream kind of guy, but extraordinary rides claim extraordinary supplies.
-
• #33
Whilst you are all gorging on meatballs and ice creams, I may do a Dale's Supermarket Sweep for some more Dröna. Lekmans are going to be too heavy methinks.
-
• #34
Lekmans would go nicely on a pizza box style front rack...
-
• #35
I’ll join you in spirit but I’m going to the beach instead.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to sketch out a route for this, over Christmas.
I am pondering starting at Croydon and then taking the Wandle river path into town, for a bit of a change, before hitting the North Circular later on (only joking).
We could also canal out to Wembley way, but that might be too slow after the Wandle section.
I am also going to make an executive decision that Tottenham Court Road is a SHAM-IKEA and will be omitted.
With that said, it may well be Croydon -> Wembley -> Tottenham -> Stratford -> Greenwich
Foot tunnel or ferry will be the North South river crossing of choice.

Having said that:

Let's go on the cable car? Costs are associated.

Yes, yes, yes, never been on it, I mean, why on earth would anyone? it's utterly pointless, but I still fancy taking a ride on it.

I took my boy on it when we rode the London Sightseer this year.
It's terrifying!
Thoroughly recommended, and trumps carrying bikes up the steps of the lift fails.
Might have to rethink the Dröna Dash™ though, as I assume my trailer will not be allowed 🤔

I have only been on it with kids. It's fun.
This is shaping up to be an eclectic ride.
We could try and get an MTBish section through Hampstead Heath.

Definately in Matt, I’m bringing Allen Key.. yep a mate of mine. We can do hotshots too Swedish style, if you think booze is acceptable
-
• #43
Booze always acceptable. Just not for me, sadly.
-
• #44
If time allows and people want to, we can do a full wander around the showrooms and market place in the Greenwich store, at the end of the ride.
Maybe get a group photo in one of the room diorama?

Great stuff Matt
this feels like GSIAD or Guinness ride..
but packaged in a way I really like -

This is true, but you never forget it, like going on the London Eye.. I did all the cable car rides in Medellín Colombia just a nice way to travel..

The cable car is great, utterly pointless but great. Pray for lightening as they will shut it with you still on it.

Yes
Cable car

I recall seeing Ikea cargo bikes and trailers at a store in Groningen NL a few years ago.. customers taking sofas, beds, wardrobes home.. totally awesome delivery choice
I see what you did there...
