New grips
Front large flat rack
Rear rackFit the child seat

front rack
if you want to keep it decathlon i have one of these going spare (doesn't have the clippy connector thing any more though).
mtb ss cranks
i have a 44t set of cranks (also decathlon) very similar to the ones already on your vitamin I expect, but slightly less whizzy.

you'd better not install any components that aren't b'twin b'randed

How much weight will you be carrying? Singlespeed with a heavy load doesn't sound like much fun, any gear that would allow you to move off easily from lights etc would end up being quite spinny when you were up to speed wouldn't it?

up to (low) speed
Sorted.

Speed is not a consideration.
It's gonna be heavy n sloooooooow.

I'm after a pizza rack I think and I'd like to upgrade the cranks. But thanks for the offers!

It warms my heart to see more and more kid-haulers popping up here.

Recently I've been doing a bit if riding around Maidstone (slightly hilly) with my two year old grand-daughter on the back of a not very classy mountain bike.
I find myself changing gear frequently. It wouldn't be much fun trying to lug her uphill in a big gear, especially since it's not really practical to get out of the saddle.
Incidentally, the little girl is keen to be on the bike and doesn't even complain when it's raining.

we had a yepp mini on a kid hauler up until the age of about 3 and a half, then switched to a cheap toptube mounted seat until she was old enough to ride her own bike.
for me, it felt much more secure having the kid between my arms than hanging off the back.
also meant you could chat easily with them and point stuff out easier.
this was on a single speed 26" MTB with 44 16 gearing.
not too much in the way of hills on our school run though... -

Kids on the back. I agree about top tube feeling safer but I tried it and even a couple of minutes was killing my knees. I'll mostly be doing short journeys around local parks and canals.
At the mo the gearing is super easy so hills ok, flat is super slow which is fine. if it becomes an issue later I'll drop a 3 speed nexus wheel I've got laying around in ...

fair enough, the front seats can force you to ride a bit 'knees out'
I used to love having the kids on the bike. looking back it would have been awesome to have a proper cargo bike but didn't have the space or the cash for one at the time.

Probably the most bogging build ever.
Certainly a contender! I'm not sure that level of security is necessary for a £19 saddle but better safe than sorry eh?

I do love the ruthless dedication to function over form though.

Form was a consideration in that i wanted something that looked awful.
Probably the most bogging build ever. Here we go.
Picked this up this weekend.
