This is cool also

I just found a new Barber Tone Press in a box in my desk drawer. I have no recollection of buying it. Drunk me from last year has surprisingly conservative taste in late night pedal purchasing.

Guitar hive mind: I can’t be arsed to trawl the nets sifting out fake news about isolated power supplies. What’s the best budget (vaguely recall being recommended Thomann range... think I might even have the 5 output one) with proper isolation and 10 x 9v power.

The small Thomann one.
Quality isolated outs and if you need more just buy another one. They're cheap as chips! There is also a good reason to buy the smaller one too which I can't remember...Actually I'm not sure about the small one being the one at all? There's this one too.

And this one https://www.thomann.de/ie/harley_benton_powerplant_iso_2_pro.htm
Can’t remember the relative merits. Something about properly independent transformers on some and not others?

Wanted to try out a few oldies and new discoveries on my pedal board and with power supply being at premium, temporarily removed the stuff I didn’t need, the result was accidentally colour coordinated ...

Yup! Routed for a neck humbucker and middle pickup as well. Obviously I’m not going to add the middle tho. I’m not sick. If you want a strat, buy a strat right?

Next q. Who in the uk does a single ply tele guard cut for a humbucker? Plenty in the US but postage is killer.

Scratch that. Found one. Ordered. Next is the pickup. I’m 90% set on. Duncan Antiquity.

Going for a whole page of posts here: in other news, I realised that after ages of trying and failing to get on with the Fuzz Factory, I was running it after a buffered TU-2. Moved it to first... totally different thing. Love it!

It sounded like a super trebly hyper distortion when placed after the buffer; in glorious isolation it’s chewy, spitty, funky fun. Not a rock sound at all. Made me realise why I bought it in the first place. Happy!

I was about to ask you if you still had that FF, glad I didn't now!!
Is that your old Tele? Going for a dooks Micawber? 😊

Pretty much. this is all part of my hankering to get a heavy band up and running next year.

Ah ha! That’ll be it!

Great to see!

That's a great looking guitar and a deeply engrossed teen! Well done!

sit back and wait for those sweet sweet royalty cheques to start rollin' in.

What a wonderful result, I think I've got something in my eye... 🙂

That is very cool. Nicely done!

Got distracted in my mission to get the neck humbucker fitted by listening to demos of the Antiquity tele bridge pickup which sounds amazing. The humbucker is around £140 and the tele bridge only £100 but I can't really afford to drop the cash on both right now. Wonder if anywhere will be doing Jan sales...

Anderton's, Shirley? But I have no idea, tbh...
I need to shake myself out of the current musical funk I'm in... So conflicted, the stuff I'm writing falls into two (sometimes three) different musical spaces/places/etc, I'm overthinking this and it's making me procrastinate and do sweet fucking Fanny Adams... Happens to me a lot... Worst procrastinator ever...
And the lack of discipline when it comes to lyrics, drives me mad... It is a mental illness...

I feel you. I have no time at the moment, new baby, new job and short winter days. By the time I've got the tiny boy down to sleep for the night it can be 10:30-11pm or later and the last thing I want to do (having been up since 5:30am) is start work on something that requires creative energy.
As a result I've been failing to find the time to sit down and finish a lyric that I had 90% of done since about August. Gah.
What I have been doing though is prepping for two things I want to do in the new year. well three really.
One is finish off the Elvers album and stick it out. I'm way past obsessing over different mixes and stuff, just going to bundle up the tracks, master it as an album and stick it out.
I then want to start playing some solo gigs out here. There's a new art space/venue opened in my little town and I'll def book something there for spring.
The other thing is that I want to put together a noisy band at some point soon. I've been working really hard on my electric playing. Really trying to get my vibrato happening, bending in tune to and inject some new ideas into my solo playing. It's a slow road but I'm definitely improving.
In support of this plan i'm putting together a rig to suit. Hence pedal board acquisitions and guitar tinkering. Last thing on the shopping list is a gig worthy amp. Will very likely be SF fender of some flavour. Then I just need to track down a rhythm section. Easier said than done.
