I used my SS Ogre for a couple of Badger rides this year. I really appreciated the lighter weight ( even on a Surly ), lack of thinking about gear selection, and the sense of accomplishment when getting up slightly techy climbs that I'd not managed SS before.
I did the whole South downs way on 61.5" gear in 10.5hrs once. It was hard but rewarding. The funniest bits were passing people on geared bikes on the climbs.
