That's rather unkind of her I feel - Christmas is a time for meaningful mementos and joy, definitely not for overthinking the appearance of things - you've put a whole bloody tree in the lounge, it's already a bit silly. Those ornaments should take pride of place. Hopefully she comes to her senses next year.
My wife has rather cruelly forbidden the prized ornaments that I've collected over the years from being displayed on the outward-facing side of the tree because she says they're 'too tacky'. Even the standard silver and red baubles I usually use to fill out space were thrown back in the box because they don't match her colour scheme (she's used only brass/gold or plain unpainted wood ornaments). To be honest I quite like the tree to be a bit tacky and was surprised how upset it made me; most of my collection was sent to me by my family on the run up to various Christmases so they feel very personal.
