That’s really weird. The watchmaker said the mainspring was okay? You should get at least a day of reserve. Maybe you don’t gesticulate rudely at people often enough during the day to have wound it up.
I find myself shaking my wrist intermittently to give an extra wind to whatever I wear, and these cheaper autos (and manuals) have never stopped overnight.
Maybe as you think, it was just wound down.
