You can make jokes, but there's an increasing number of hybrid out there that not only have huge tyres clearance but would make a great flat bar gravel/tourer.
(Muirwood come with 700 x 42mm)
(The Kona are actually last year model with 650b fitted).
and especially this with 700 x 50mm;
