Totally true though. The little ladies square dial Omega De Ville I got from auction was £35 ‘working’, and cost me £65 to service. Good luck getting a mens De Ville for anything close to that money.
@Diamond_Supercool unless you desperately need to, don’t take the back off. You risk slipping and scratching/damaging something, even magnetising it. But look along the edge of the back there should be a small lip or gap between caseback and case. You use a case knife to lever the two apart. Don’t use a screwdriver. If you must, use a blade like a swiss army pocket knife. Case knives are special in the sense they have a relatively fine edge, but it is dull and won’t make you bleed when you inevitably slip.
