London bike shops closing

Yup, just along from the old Wandsworth builders polytechnic, sorry, the South Bank University Faculty of the Built Environment...

SAD! Never went in but was always quietly impressed by the bikes in the window.

When did Cycle Surgery Strype St close? The one literally next door to Swift Cycles, although CS was there first. In that odd difficult to find location in Spitalfields back streets.

A few of them have closed, Camden/Chalk Farm has gone and another one that I can't recall now.

Hmm, sure it was open a lot more recently than that. Looks like they are only just boxing up stock.

Probably had a year on the rent left, Chalk Farm looks recent aswell.

I think Swift are using it as overspill until a permanent tenant is found.

Ah that makes sense, in retrospect it looked like storage.

I know the one north side of Southwark Bridge is gone which is bonkers as it was the only one on cycle superhighway so loads of passing riders.

Rent was unsustainable, apparently

John (Great name!) is calling it a day at Ealing Cycles and is closing at the end of the month after 46 years. Show the love by snapping up the last of his clearance stock (see website https://www.ealingcycles.co.uk/).

Does anyone know where Janos has gone? He used to work at the kennington branch and was a bit of a magician with 11 speed plus a great bloke. Would have been nice to be able to say goodbye at least!

Just noticed that noble wheels have closed up.. Not a shop but had a unit in Wandsworth.
The quality of hub servicing was second to none. And knowledge was amazing.
I have a set of wheels on Chris king hubs i was due to give him...sadly it's not to be.
I used enjoy his stories and post on Instagram.

Cycle Surgery in trouble and looking to CVA and negotiating lower rents. This is gonna end well. Expect more shop closures in the next few weeks.

Not my local..but only heard good things.

Sad times, good location and tidy setup.

I've never popped in but that's due to them being already closed when I ride by at 6ish.

Maybe they've moved to a larger shop?
