Since I fitted the Jones bars, access to the Wald 1372 basket I had on there was impeded, so I took it off to rethink the setup. Not wanting to ditch it for a flat rack (the retention offered by a basket is quite brilliant), I decided to modify it for better frontal access.
First I mocked it up in Photoshop using an old image:
Then I got the tools out. Made sense to retain the top frame of the basket for both aesthetics and strength.
Needs a little filing and refining, but I'm pleased with it so far:
Next up is to shorten the original struts to utilise the low-rider mounts on my fork.
