If pads need replacing, check the rotor too, they may be showing wear, if used with a new pads, could accelerate the pads wear.
Recommend going for metal pads and new rotor combination, as swedeee said, get some new cheap pads from uberbike.
FWIW, I brought some super cheap metal pads on Amazon, and they work perfectly well (with Avid G2 rotor with RS505).
