Be interesting to see how this changes over the course of the day

Will we getting Ray Winston's giant head popping up during recess givin in vote odds?

  • Apologies: should read 'defended'.

  • This with added "Mueller also takes down Farage/Banks"

  • Trump being impeached/imprisoned. Is this worth an accumulator, or am I dreaming of an even weirder reality than the one we're in?

Re 45, it may be worth listening to Pullitzer prize winner Chris Hedges:

  • Are folk still listening to James' brexit coverage on LBC ?

    If so, thoughts?

  • I can't see that a unicorn jizz luge (spooge luge?) would be any madder than what we've already seen this year. Perhaps save it for January 1st to kick off 2019 with a suitably surreal vibe.

  • I think it's more like the Air France crash near Brazil - the participants know something's wrong, but a minority are continuing to do the thing that started the problem in the first place.

  • Was on the Guardian brexit thread, this ad just appeared. I offer without comment...

  • This is really good writing:

Though precise modeling was never pursued, the investigators later estimated that this was the last moment, as the airplane dropped through 13,000 feet, when a recovery would theoretically have been possible. The maneuver would have required a perfect pilot to lower the nose at least 30 degrees below the horizon and dive into the descent, accepting a huge altitude loss in order to accelerate to a flying angle of attack, and then rounding out of the dive just above the waves, pulling up with sufficient vigor to keep from exceeding the airplane’s speed limit, yet not so violently as to cause a structural failure. There are perhaps a handful of pilots in the world who might have succeeded, but this Air France crew was not among them. There is an old truth in aviation that the reasons you get into trouble become the reasons you don’t get out of it.

  • Followed by sipping a martini and delivering a devastating one liner.

  • I hate reading that stuff it gives me the shivers

All this was happening a night IIRC. When the speed sensors had frozen over?

  • How does Keir become PM though?

    If JC dies.

  • I don't think May will lose the vote of no confidence inside the Tory party, either. As has been said, she may be damaged if the margin is small, but unless she actually is voted out in one way or another, whether in her own party or in Parliament, she won't budge.

It's an interesting question how many Tory MPs, if any, would vote against her in a Labour-triggered vote of no confidence in Parliament. I should think that would be political suicide for a Tory MP, especially if it means that Labour get in. Or how would it play out?

  • If JC dies.

Fat chance, he'll just get resurrected/resurrect himself and go up to Heaven.

  • Christ, May is frustrating. And Parliament in general. There should be someone - like the speaker - who ensures that the PM when asked question, answers the frigging question, instead of just saying "Corbyn wants to divide us and crash the economy!!".

Great, thanks for that answer Theresa, fantastic input.

  • It's the same fucking shit from her. She's contemptuous.

  • That is genuinely frightening; that 3 airline pilots could not work out that their plane was absolutely stalled and falling like a brick, a skill that (as far as I can work out) is fundamental to flying even the smallest, most basic aeroplane.

  • Give it a try Langewiesche is brilliant. Maybe watch The Right Stuff before?

  • Update;

  • It’s almost as if the plane couldnt tell them what was happening

  • My two pence, May wins tonight, loses house, wins GE.

Does a GE allow a new leadership contest?

  • This analysis of the transcript is such an interesting and terrifying read: https://www.popularmechanics.com/flight/a3115/what-really-happened-aboard-air-france-447-6611877/

Edit: it's pretty similar to what was posted above.

  • Time for the Queen to get involved.

  • Presumably any of this lot could just make secret deal with the Chinese government or some non-EU business or India or whatever for £ to keep pushing Brexit? There doesn't need to be trading to make money.

  • Why are we discussing the Air France crash in this level of detail?
