  • Pic works for me. It's a GSXR 1000 K5 Track Bike, with title. 12k miles and some really nice bits. Suspension done by GP Works with the 750 shock conversion, powercommander, v shiny Leo Vinci full system, Vortex rearsets etc. Way more track bike than I need but 2500 bucks? Could. Not. Say. No.

  • Ooof, nice one. Feel free to post pictures of the Leo Vince system!

  • 12k miles

That's minty fresh even if it's spent most of it's life on the track. the GP works bouncies are worth half that at retail alone no? That's an insane amount of bike for the price.

I really want a daytime MOT track bike.

  • Yup, seemed far too good to pass up. Nothing resembling an MOT required here but you do need lights and indicators to ride on the street. I’ll probably just stick an led projector on the front and cheapie all in one rear on. The wiring all still seems to be there...

  • Valve shim kit and APE manual camchain tensioner ordered. I hate doing bucket and shim valve clearances, hope everything is still in spec so I don't have to pull the cams out. I nearly always pay someone to do this but it's the price of a new pair of slicks and a track day so....needs must. I'm basically doing budget track bike battle. Except by myself.

  • APE manual camchain tensioner ordered

You wanna do mine as well? My cam chain is starting to sound like a bunch of spoons having a fight!

  • Just got flashbacks of doing my exhaust valve shims a few years ago on the ZXR400 and dropping one into the engine totally out of sight. That was a stressful few hours trying to get it out.

  • Lower crash bungs removed from the RSV and what a revelation it is riding without them smacking into your shins every 5 seconds.

Also weirdly one of my wing mirrors just snapped off randomly. Was parked with the mirrors folded, heard a snapping noise and turned round and it was hanging off. One of the bolts just sheared.

  • @jambon are you commuting on your RSV?

  • God no. Last night I locked it up, waxed it, plugged in the trickle charger and is tucked up under a blanket in the heated shed for winter. I've ridden it a few times in the rain recently and the guilt was almost too much.

  • Ha, just saw an RSV this morning and I know they all look the same, but it definitely had arrow cans and blue wheels and I just felt like it might have been you. I don't even know where you work, just had a feeling!

  • Ha - sound good? I put the baffles in once and it sounded so sad.

  • My bike is making a right racket. At low revs there’s a tinny, hollow rattle sound coming from down the front somewhere. About 1.5-2k rpm. It may be there at higher but I can’t hear it anymore.
    Stressing me out.
Plus I took the seat off to fit a tail tidy, the bolts a rusted solid so I can’t really fit it :/ but the wiring going on in there is a right mess. There’s at least 5 or 6 wires that just end and aren’t plugged in to anything. Mostly just wrapped with tape.
There’s more of the same under the front seat

  • Hah looks like whoever wired my bike got their hands on yours too!
    No idea about rattle though...

  • Looks better than mine.
Who fancies grinding off the bolts and helping me fit my tail tidy? Will pay in beer and companionship

  • You need a grinder? I'd start by whacking them first to see if the impact dislodges them.

  • Rounded bolts in rusted solid nuts. Not sure there’s much hope.
Think I’ll be getting rid of this bike in the spring. I have a feeling that it’s about to start needing work doing.
Will think about looking for something with a screen and a comfier seat with luggage options. Would love an F800GS

  • Would love an F800GS

Ah yeah, that wold be pretty good, they look well sorted with good spec, but the bastards hold their price too well.
    Tiger? Old Multistrada? Transalp?

  • Ah what day would be good for you?

We can start by hitting in some torx bits.

  • Wow, errm just saturday really.

Do you do wiring too? ;)

  • Aerokroil and Torx bits on an impact driver always worth a go. Kroil is seriously magic for this stuff.

  • Anyone in the market for leathers?

  • Don't suppose anyone is going on the Toy Run today?

  • As part of winterising the RSV I reset the various suspension settings to stock as stated in the owner's manual. Surprise surprise but the middle of each variable is firm, wound in all the way it's almost comical.

Think I know the answer... but would anyone have any issues doing track days on 'sports touring' tyres? Never had an issue previously, but haven't had a bike this powerful before. Currently it has Avon Storm 2 Ultra AV55 fitted if that helps.

  • It’s obviously going to depend on some extent as to how near the tyres limits you are going to be lapping. But given that people like Bike magazine do run what you brung track days with no vans, slicks, tyre warmers etc you should be fine
