Notable day: BBCR4 Today is extended beyond 9 O'clock News.
Brexit is now starting to have a real effect on our lives: the BBC R4 schedule is in disarray.

Does that mean the nuclear subs will be confused?

• #15679
I tuned in for the stories, and then I get more news instead. Nope, nope nope... :(

The Tory MP's wheeled out on BBC News all sound like FOTL's

Fruit of the Loom?

Be interesting to see how this changes over the course of the day

So she's heavily favoured to Remain? Is that right?
I've read that before somewhere.
-
• #15684
Hmm I’d not say heavily but that’s probably quite personal.
Certainly more likely. -

I am coming to the point of thinking there is no strategy, just stupidity, self interest and complacency from all concerned.
Really? What took you so long?
-
• #15686
I think it's more like the Air France crash near Brazil - the participants know something's wrong, but a minority are continuing to do the thing that started the problem in the first place.
-
• #15687
I was complacent and stupid and assumed those in power might have a clue.
My bad

I was complacent and stupid and assumed at least a small proportion of those in power might have a clue

Also in same boat

All of the last two years was cleverly orchestrated just so there is no meaningful vote and we are forced to crash out with a no deal Brexit.
Yesterday I wondered briefly whether May was playing some kind of long game where the Brexit scenarios just got more apparently and undeniably shit and the whole process more and more chaotic in order to force, at the 11th hour, a cancellation. She was a Remainer after all. But then I remembered how incompetent, short-termist and self-interested they all are, and realised that was a ridiculous idea...

sorry, I know 3 hours is a long time on the Brexit thread, but what does this mean?
-
• #15692
May would be absolutely happy to remain.
I remember reading somewhere that she thinks all this is the huge distraction / disaster that we all think it is.
-
• #15693
my wife is convinced that May has played a long game, it is a source of dispute in our household. I just see May as a self serving power hungry person who has entirely lost focus on any beliefs and is now obsessed with keeping power, Brexit means Brexit and will of the people.

I described this exact "May's cunning plan" to my girlfriend about a week ago, at the same time as predicting that 2019 would see a 2nd referendum, vote to Remain after all, Keir Starmer become Prime Minister and (just for good measure) Trump being impeached/imprisoned. Is this worth an accumulator, or am I dreaming of an even weirder reality than the one we're in?
-
• #15695
Fucking do it.
How does Keir become PM though?
-
• #15696
he will toboggan in on a runway of iced unicorn jizz
-
• #15697
I haven't got a clue, just thought it sounded like a good idea!
-
• #15698
Flying kicking Corbo out of the way in a shower of (non communist) stars? Awesome.
-
• #15699
If Boris becomes the PM, they may as well start a border poll for Northern Ireland right now... he'll piss off enough people to make a win more likely / just mess the whole thing into a hard brexit.

• #15700
like this but with unicorn jizz and Starmer at 60s
Surely if that were true, they'd have done it about six months ago.
