  • Probably.

He also wouldn't like cheap forks on his fine fine frames

  • I've put a Chris Hoy stem on the green bike so there's a precedent, sort of (who cares when it's under layers of tape and garmin mount and whatever). Seriously though we've seen a couple of nice potential options but they're due for April 2019 or later so we have to find something else in the meantime.

Anybody used the Arkose Carbon Thru-Axle forks?

(I may.... will still ask you for a rack at the end of it all, if you don't mind)

  • They the ones on the arkose 4?

If so, I have them on mine

  • No idea, website says "Arkose models 2017 onwards".

  • These fork are excellent and have clearance for 650b 2.3 tyres (58mm), 50mm rake also helped.

Replace the thru axle skewer with a Shimano one and you're sorted.

  • Let Sam make the rack, but I'll happily help him design it.

  • Thanks for the info, much appreciated, and good to hear. Almost sounds like there is too much clearance and 650bx47 will look gappy!

That may well be the forks sorted, phew.

  • Got one, I can measure if needed.

  • Would be much appreciated, thanks!

  • Yeah they're the ones on mine, lovely fork, welcome to have a closer look if you want.

  • Just measured with my "fancy" digital calipers.
Got 650bx47mm tyres fitted, its 63mm just above the tyre and 60mm at the point where the blades start narrowing towards the crown.
Let me know and I could get pics if it helps. I'll fit Velo Orange Zeppelin mudguards this week which are 52mm wide.

It gonna look gappy anyway as the fork is 395mm length, and have room for 700c x 50.

Mudguard made it look less gappy.

    The Arkose fork a great deal considering that the Deda which is believed to be the same (except the mudguard mount bolt isn't drilled on the crown) and cost more;

  • Only one I got that show the gap.

  • @edscoble thanks again, super helpful! Nice pic too, where was it taken?

@ElGato I wouldn't mind a picture if you happen to go past your bike but the measurements are much helpful already, thanks a lot :)

  • A quick pic I took yesterday.
Might fit the mudguard today so will post that once done.

  • Thanks! Just need to decide now :)

  • I know its Planet X etc... The Mystique is Holdsworth's first full-carbon Gravel

  • Vintage styling doesn't work well with oversize curved monocoque design IMO.

  • Is it Terrene Elwood? Where did you buy them?

  • Yes, they are. Bought them a while ago when Planet X had them in stock.

  • Light or Tough? How do you rate them, comparing to, say GK SK if you had them?

  • They are the tough version. I really like them. Very easy to setup tubeless, roll fast on tarmac and have good grip on loose surface.
I've tried GK SK and they are ok but have not ridden them for as long as the Terrene and also are 700x43 so not really a true like for like comparison.

Pinnacle specced that fork (as did Alb here who was at Genesis then - we were both asking the fork manufacturer for a wider crown fork, I don't think Genesis used it at first tho) but didn't pay for the tooling. We got it a year ahead of other brands that now use it.

  • That make sense and end up being the best looking carbon fork out there.

The only thing I want is the Pinnacle Pyrolite fork with the 15mm TA and rack mount for touring, annoyingly I end up having to leave Evans!

Oh yeah, the recent new Pinnacle have a new fixed TA skewer over the old open cam TA skewer, is that gonna be included with the fork or the fork come with the original open cam TA skewer?

  • Vintage styling doesn't work well with oversize curved monocoque design IMO.

Definitely, but then again, Holdsworth isn't exactly a well-known brand nowadays, and that is the most recognisable Holdsworth paint jobs, so I can see why they stick with it.

    It is a darn sight better on a modern steel frame that actually made it look almost as if Holdsworth still in business and not been sold off;
