Did you ever experiment with non-standard or bright screens in your Rolleicord?

Yes, mine has a bright screen with split prism. It's pretty good but I struggle with critical focus unless I use the loupe.

I have a Va to shoot over Christmas. I think it has one of the standard screens. I’ll see how I get on.
