  • Yeah, but we could revoke, then reinvoke to give a two year extension from the day of reinvocation?

  • That would not meet the "good faith" requirement.

  • Ah. I see.

  • Vote's cancelled and not cancelled. Schrodinger's vote basically.

  • Can we put them all in the box and just not open it, ever?

  • It's off.

  • So we've had a weekend of political interviews confirming the vote definitely won't be cancelled, followed by.......

  • Can't believe they are going to pull the vote. The continued spineless refusal to face up to issues and continue to delay is turning into the defining aspect of May's PMship.

  • maybe she's just done the deal already. maybe we're already out and this is part of the agreement she made ages ago.

  • A reaction to the EJC saying the UK can withdraw article 50?

  • i definitely feel a bit out

  • Can't believe they are going to pull the vote.

    Yeah this is bad.

  • I've read some comments saying that the order on which amendments could be presented is important which Bercow will effectively decide. Depending on how it is done it could rule out No Deal but Ididn't have a chance to look into it properly and now can't find it. Can anyone enlighten me?

  • can't vote against it if there's no vote!

  • FFS, I was going to buy some Euros today.

    Is this true?

The PM cannot pull the vote? The House will have to vote to pull a vote....

  • Sadly not. Would have been top lulz, but apparently the govt just doesn't move to resume the what they were talking about last week and it all goes away.

  • No, it's total bollocks. Situation normal then, coming from a Tory MP. Doesn't even understand the key procedural rules of the legislature he's a member of.

  • Yeah, well, he's only be an MP since 2005 so you can't expect him to understand everything. People have had enough of experts so everyone is trying really hard not to be one.

  • Maybe he just likes voting? It keeps him occupied and away from doing anything resembling real work.

  • Thought it was a bit over excited, would have been interesting none the less, not that politics isn't holding my attention at the moment anyway!

  • Very interesting and balanced article by John Harris about the deeper causes of Brexit

  • Seemingly she could delay the vote till 21 Jan. By then it's her deal or no deal, with a lot less time to maneuver anything else.

Will the EU budge an inch over the backstop? Will likely be a fudge of words and understanding if so. Is that really what many MP's (other than brexiteers and the DUP) are worried about?

It's getting messier, which is saying something.

Except for the ECJ ruling today.
