  • Loopmasters sale is on, the legendary Raw Cutz super pack is under £60:

    https://www.loopmasters.com/genres/24-Hip-Hop/products/2140-The-Raw-Cutz-Super-Pack

  • I have purchased:

    Vermona DRM1 mk3
    Korg Minilogue
    Steinberg UR-Rt4

Will report back with results sometime in the near or distance future! (no experience/wish me luck!)

  • Nice choices, I have a DRM and Minilogue and rate both. The DRM is a little bit old-school (basic midi implementation, no presets, etc) but sounds great and can do some interesting stuff.

  • got this Joris Voorn esque Proggish piece underway - needs some work still, this is just a test export a quick master chain bunged on to bring the levels up - snare roll is crap/needs work/needs scrapping altogether - kick/bass maybe need work, some weight taken out of one or both - the second kind of breakdown with the pad riff going to a lower octave....maybe something else needs to come in - a melodic line?

see what you think would love any feedback - it's for a label 10th release compilation so needs finished in next week or so - cheers

  • Nice work. Not totally my genre but happy to give some feedback.

The kick feels like it wouldn't hurt to have a slightly longer body/tail to it. The high percussion, the hats/shaker stuff, for me could have a bit more bite - maybe a little bit of saturation/distortion on it?

Only other thing is that I felt the little synth part that comes in around 2:35 sounded slightly out of key - I know it's not, but it maybe didn't sit as well as the other melodic parts.

    HTH!

thank you that's great very much appreciated, getting feedback from a few different quarters is really useful! cheers

  • Obviously insane amounts of Black Friday stuff going on but I thought this was worth sharing.

Looks like Samples From Mars are offering all their 2018 releases for $19.

    https://samplesfrommars.com/products/2018-from-mars

    Code: xX$19-2018xX3

Highly recommend this. They put out some great stuff this year. LM-1, DMX and modular drums all really good.

  • Amazing price! Annoyingly I just bought a Behringer Model D so my synth budget is empty for a while.
Not that annoying though, it’s pretty great!

  • I mentioned the Samples From Mars stuff up thread, but it seems that you can now get their entire collection for nine dollars:

    https://samplesfrommars.com/products/all-products-from-mars

    xX$9-AllxX3

Which is insane. Vast quantities of great samples.

  • Holycrap. Bought, just because.

Edit: Code doesn't work for me...

  • No, apparently it was a bugged code that shouldn't have been out there, It worked for a day or two and then they cancelled it.

The $39 deal for everything is still active - which is still a great, great deal.

  • Ah okay. 39$ is still a great deal and I am thinking about it, since I do so little in terms of audio engineering.

The 9$ one would have been a total no-brainer.

  • Good old Paul, proper synth head. Good to see the Novation Peak there, I just got one last week, cracking synth and a great update coming soon that adds two more LFOs (!), FX modulation etc etc.

  • Hi, can anyone recommend an alternative to the akg 240s? Mine stopped working in the left ear, I was pretty miffed with the durability, they'd only had light, minimal use. At the cheaper end there's the Samson sr850, supposedly very good sound for the price and if they break it won't be a huge deal. Then at the upper end of my budget there's the dt990s but I've read that they're a bit boosted in the bass and treble. Maybe I should just stop procrastinating and get some more 240s... any suggestions?

  • Second hand eurorack. Doepfer stuff.

  • I know a designer there...

    Pm

  • Sony MDR 7506 aren’t bad at all for the money, though personally I’d tend to prefer using a pair of HD25 even though they’re a bit “boxier” and not really reference 'phones. HD25s are basically indestructible as well.

DT880 Pro or HD650 are a big step up if you can stretch to them.

  • I really like the sound of my dt990s, very comfy pads too.

  • Cheers all, I'm wanting to stick with semi/open backs I think. Really tempted by the 990s, think I need to go and try some out.

  • I have the Dt880s. Love em. Mix on them all the time. Very open tho so no good if you need isolating.

  • Not sure what this is. Synth? We’re not really starting a studio just yet, desk is a shared mac with me for admin and a bit of edit work. The editing thing means I should probably sort the monitor feed first:

So I’m going to invest in an audio interface. Currently using 3.5mm headphone jack from the imac and it’s really whirring and shit into out of my amp & speakers. Two track will be fine.

If anyone has something good ish to sell on or a recommendation, please give me a shout.

  • I've got Superlux HD 681F. The reduced bass-end model. Seem fine, about £35 from Thomann with a velour pad upgrade.
