  • Sounds brilliant! Great work on this.

  • Excellent! and the ballet is a brilliant idea!

  • Shit, just read this through. What an awful thing, poor kid. Same age as my eldest daughter which obvs makes it even easier to sympathise. Will donate something even though I see you've already bought the bike. @PhilDAS Excellent work dude, top uncle.

  • Thank you mate
All I did was have the idea and the intention but it’s all you guys that have made it happen. Excellent work forum!

    Thanks so much again all

  • I also think the bike is an excellent choice. I got a v similar thing for my daughter, ie kid geo 1x8 geared 26" rigid mtb with disc brakes, it's been faultless.

It's only the whining, groaning rider that prohibits it from flying uphill. Your niece sounds tougher, though!

  • Finally got around to donating, great effort forum peeps. She seems to be one tough cookie.

  • Donated. Please get her some amazing lights to go with the bike and tell her she's rad

  • Won’t be home for Christmas so she’s gotten it early so I could be here to give it to her.
I didn’t want to expect too much from her reaction to it, I know I was always an awkward kid when it came to receiving gifts but honestly she’s absolutely made up. She’s jumping up and down excited. Unfortunately it’s dark out and I haven’t got the lights and helmet for her yet but they’ll be on order soon.
I’ve explained where it’s come from and that I have a lot of cycling friends who all wanted to get her back to riding after hearing about her accident and she has said she wants to write a thank you letter to everyone.
And a massive thank you from me to everyone for making this happen. She wouldn’t have been able to get a bike for a long time without the help and kindness of all of you. It’s made a big difference to a very appreciative family!

  • That's really lovely to see.
And hiring a young David Millar impersonator to hand it over was a good touch too.

  • Haha haven’t had that one before but I’ll take it.
I get Bowie most often but that’s probably just the hair and sometimes questionable fashion choices

  • Great to hear!

  • Excellent, so glad she loves it!

  • Superb and a great photo.

  • :') Glad she loves it, wish her happy and safe miles with it!

  • She’s jumping up and down excited.

Superb! May she enjoy many, many, many miles on it. And may she have the best Christmas. Evar!

  • So great to see this. Well done all.

  • Double thumbs up!

  • This made me very happy, good work sorting the bike out!

  • Horrible story, excellent work everyone, donated. Great to see the photo and happy to see anything else put to a great Christmas.

  • Due to her losing the sight in her right eye, she won’t be able to shoulder check for traffic on the road so I’ve taken inspiration from top #influencer @amey and bought a bar end mirror though not as artisanal as his I’m sure.

  • obligatory "grandpa looks pleased"

  • Fantastic, so glad she liked it and wishing her many happy miles.
