• just chuck something together with the stuff from all the previous trips at some point

Yeah, this. You've got enough decent pics, the whole phenomenon is vaguely on point and few who daydream of these things actually get out and do them. I.e. they will love 'em some vicarious adventure, hopefully paying for it in some way. I'd buy a book for instance.

  • @dick I thought you financial people loved Brexit? One day I'll visit and you won't be too busy to see me ;)

@pascalo Yeah pretty much. We bought a house down here in a town which has a huge new mountain bike park.

@russmeyer Right on. I've been taking a look at some options and I'll float them in this most supportive of forums to gauge interest.

  • I love you, but I just can’t be with you. It’s me, not you.

  • Well I wish I could say I've done a big silly ride and that I've taken pictures of it to show you, but for various reasons I've been out of the adventure game.

BUT! My plan is to come back to England at some point over the next few months, and I'd love to bring the Wolverine with me. Would anybody be interested in an overnighter or multi-day trip somewhere in the UK? Would be good to get a bit of a forum gang together and do a big ol' ride through the dales or something, staying in B&B's, cycling, generally larging it out and about.

Open to routes/ideas as long as Black Beauty is the right bike for the job. I'll update more when I have my flights confirmed.

  • Yes. In.

  • hey!
I organise the bikepacking weekend trips here
would be an honour to ride with you. I'll throw a route together.
please don't come in august, I am riding abroad the whole month...

  • I'd be up for attending if i can get time off things and you're cool with a not that fit 49 year old being part of the proceedings..!

  • Already following this thread and I'm desperate to find minor internet fame in a write-up, so will keep an eye on plans.

  • Yes!

  • Too much brazing to do any writing?

  • i'll get the legges ready

  • Yew! That's the spirit folks. Would be great to have a big ol' group on an all welcome basis.

@platypus I'd be stoked the route planning being in your. If you wanted to toss around some routes/areas to ride then I'm all ears.

Open to bringing my tent if we're to do some wild camping. If I can get my bikepacker frame painted in time there's scope for bringing that over too, but would that even belong in the Wolverine thread? :O

  • Cool! Bring a tent or you can share one with someone else coming along
Would recommend this route in Suffolk, will be great fun on the Wolverine and nice in September!

  • @platypus Shit yes that looks so good, particularly the bothy on the last few pages. Although I presume that's not in Suffolk? Really keen to get my bikepacker finished for this, but I can just whack the knobbies on the Wolverine if not.

  • @spotter you in?

  • hey!
suffolk is easy riding, good for gravel bikes etc

the bothy is wales - this trip: https://www.lfgss.com/events/4564/?offset=50
the welsh loop is a lot more demanding and stunning

  • @spotter woop woop!

@platypus Hmm okay, yeah just read your coverage of the Wales trip (banging). Might be a bit tuff for an all-inclusive vibe. Is there anything in the middle ground we should consider?

  • Yeah, this route is a good middle ground, rideable on most bikes, and very easy to get to from London.

  • when are you thinking of coming over @sensom and should we make an event page as per @platypus ' usual rides? I'm super down for this but will need to buy and set up my new frame!
I can possibly lend some gear too if anyone needs!

  • Also looks like a banger. Keen for that one, especially given its proximity to the big smoke. And yes @hp93 a formalised ride event page is a great idea.

Just need to work out when my flights will be - which is contingent on a minor operation I need. I'll find out for sure by July 16th (I have a consultation on that date and will book the operation accordingly). The hope is that it's a month or so after that and I can squeeze three weeks in the UK beforehand, slotting the ride in somewhere there. I appreciate that this is all Valerie Vague, so I"ll try and update as soon as it's dialled in.

Really fucking excited to ride bikes in the motherland again!

  • ah, cool
I'm away from 5th August to 5th September so I might miss you if you come then :(
but feel free to take the route...

  • I'm just hoping this doesn't clash with me buying/moving into my first house and my intentions to do the second city divide in September (or rather that they don't clash with this ride, because this is clearly the most important life event of the 3).

  • This is basically the 2nd coming of Jesus. Stories will be told for generations.
