For Sale: Gary Fisher Triton Singlespeed/Fixed bike

  • Gary Fisher Triton. 53cm (geometry and original specification available on the link below). It's got a 54.6cm equivalent top tube so would equate to a medium in most brands sizing. It's a British Racing Green colour although it looks black in the pics. Bought new in ~August 2009 and only seen occasional use so in excellent condition.

Obviously I'm biased but this is a really fantastic riding bike. It's a steel frame and fork which gives a lively and engaging ride. Bontrager GXP (i.e. outboard BB) chainset is also a nice touch.

I've upgraded some key components, most noteably the wheels which are now a very high spec and more in keeping with the quality of the frame:

Wheels: 32H Mavic Open Pro Ceramic rims built on Halo fixed/free bolted hubs with DT Swiss Comp spokes. There is a 16T White Industries freewheel on one side and a 16T Dura Ace fixed sprocket on the other side.

    Other upgrades:

Thomson Elite layback seat post (can swap for a black one if you prefer)
    Specialized Toupe saddle
    Easton EA90 stem
Ceramic rim specific brake blocks (these work brilliantly on the ceramic rims in both wet and dry conditions and the ceramic coating on the rims means that the rim will last a lot longer than standard aluminium braking surfaces)
Purple crank bolts to match the hubs 8-)
2 x Bontrager white bottle cages

The tyres are not the originals. It's got a Specialized All Condition Armadillo Elite (the lighter folding ones) tyre on the rear and a well used Schwalbe Ultermo on the front. The Armadillo hasn't seen much use but the Ultremo could do with replacing. I think I have the other Armadillo lying round somewhere so if I find it you can have that instead of the Ultremo.

I'd prefer to sell it as a whole bike for ease, but would be prepared to split if I got decent enough offers. It really is in tip top condition. A few paint shavings from my spanner around the dropouts and if you're fussy the bar tape could be replaced with new but otherwise a very clean bike.

Not really sure what it's worth. Won't sell for peanuts so open to sensible offers for the whole bike or to split. I'll include a Pedros frame mounted "Trixie" tool with the bike as I'll have no need for it. Pedals not included though.

I live near Maidstone if you want to view. I can probably deliver in person if you're SE based. Thanks for looking. Pics below:

  • I'm liking this,
    and the price is?

    edit: soz, i'm blind

  • an asking price is advisable...

  • an asking price is advisable...

    needs a price no?

  • OK, £550 for whole bike or offers on the parts to tempt me to split. I don't know what's a fair price but I'd let it go for that. The rims are £100 each and the White Industries freewheel isn't cheap so that price feels about right for the whole bike considering the upgrades. If I'm miles out let me know! Thanks.

  • £540 tempt anyone?

  • good price for a good bike. the gary fischer frame is a close cousin to a surly steamroller...

  • Thanks Fred. Yep, I looked at the Steamroller but felt that this was every bit as good a frame but with far better kit. Never ridden a Steamroller, but this is a great ride and perhaps less of them around which I also quite liked.

  • I like these Gary Fisher Tritons - seems everyone was buying the Langster at the time but these are nice - beautiful deep green metallic colour too.

If you do end up splitting YetiDamo, I might be interested in the wheels

  • Thanks Skipper. I'd be happy to split if there's some interest.

£180 for frame, fork and headset anyone?

  • Prices below to split. PM if interested in anything. Thanks.

    Frame, Fork and headset: £160
    Stem (Easton EA90 90mm 0 degree): £24
Bontrager bars, Tektro brake levers, unbranded brake callipers and all cables: £35. The rear brake outer is one length btw.
Bontrager chainset (130BCD, 44T) and GXP BB: £55
Halo hubs (rear is fixed/free): £37
White Industries ENO freewheel 16T: £44
Petros Trixie frame mounted tool £8

All prices posted. Price for frameset excluded. I can probably deliver that in person to SE London or West Kent. PM if interested in arranging something. I'm keeping the post and rims for a future build btw. Thanks, Damian.

PS still open to offers on the whole bike if interested to save me the hassle of splitting. Thanks.

  • PMed about tool, bump for the rest.

  • Trixie tool now sold (thank you Malaysian).

Last bump before I go to the dreaded last resort (eBay) at the weekend with the rest of the kit, so if there's anything you fancy now is a good time to make me an offer. Thanks.

  • Lovely bike, bit expensive tho :|

  • Withdrawn from sale here as I've decided to advertise it whole elsewhere and I know I can't leave it on here. Should I (can I) delete the thread? Thanks.

  • Don't see why this didn't sell here, seemed like a perfect bike for winter commuting

  • Who did you sell it to? I think I now have it in Manchester :DD

  • Ha can’t remember but some mid to late twenties fella in South London. Was seven years ago so I guess he’s mid 30’s now. I’ve bought another one of these since as it’s a perfect winter ride/commuter.

Is yours the same spec as this one I sold with the ceramic rims etc? I wish I hadn’t sold it about 5 mins after I handed it over.

  • Fast approaching his late 30's in fact.

    @MarcusManchester
I sold it on. Can't remember if it was @SamBoogie that bought it or someone else.

  • Haha @duncs Glad I underestimated your age slightly ;0)

Good to see this getting plenty of use within the LFGSS community. I genuinely regretted selling it and had been on the look out for years for another. Found one in Spring this year ;0)
