I think using the touch screen is pretty intuitive, but can't speak for how your parents would react.
Do you sit at a desk and use it? Maybe for an hour or two at a time?
I use mine as my work laptop when travelling - a day of meetings and two airport waits is probably 7 hours of using it at a desk / table.
