Or buy him the series 3 for chirstmas, have a play with it and if he is really into it then return the 3 and get a 4? Shops usually have extended return periods this time round, don't they...

I’ve a series 3 and it’s great. Only thing which is slightly annoying is I can’t see what music is playing without my glasses on.

Huge fan of mine. I've got the S4 and my oh has the S3. Hers definitely looks like a significantly dated design if that matters. Get the bigger screen unless your dad has tiny wrists.

Apple Watch, thinking of buying my dad one for christmas because its got the heart monitor and stuff on it.
Are they worth buying? He's 59 and sorta tech savvy so i dont think he won't be able to not work it more just is it worth the £400
