    The big offshore quotas are managed and traded nationally, for example herring - we swap fuckloads of this with the dutch.
    The inshore quotas (<10m boats within 10 miles i think) are the ones that cause consternation.

    Fishing is shit. It's terrible whether you live the dream of europhile fish on tap or whether you're in brexit britain. Scallop farming/dredging, overfishing, non selectivity, over fishing, quotas, hard work, no love from the middle classes for the work you're doing unless you're landing fish to rick stein or something.

    The reason why the inshore fleet want brexit is because 1970s and they want to fish off their island catching their fish. The offshore mob want to be able to fish where they want as well. Unfortunately, it's less likely to be a boat and crew and more likely to be employees of a fishing corporation.

    The quotas of fish are under our control, but we trade them. There's an allocation to the EU which is then allocated between countries. If that makes sense?
