Of the online photo hosting sites they seem pretty good - I can't see why I'd go through the pain of leaving, and if I did what I would move too.

So the iPad has a keyboard...great.
How is the lack of track pad / mouse? Is this something I could persuade my parents they don't need?

My mum, and step mum, haven't touched their laptops since I bought them iPads. Neither were tech savvy and both in their 70's, won't put the bloody things down now... give them a few mins playing with one and they will be sold.

I'd be thinking of a chromebook to be honest. Nice and easy to use, pretty much impossible to screw up and if you do it's a matter of a couple of minutes to reset.

I assume you're aware that Flickr are switching to a paid for model unless you're a very light user (which I assume not if you want an easy way to upload lots of photos).

I bought my parents an iPad a few years back, neither of them had used a computer before then... They fucking love it...

I've got 70 Gig of photographs in Flickr, have been a paid subscriber for some time.

I think using the touch screen is pretty intuitive, but can't speak for how your parents would react.

Apple Watch, thinking of buying my dad one for christmas because its got the heart monitor and stuff on it.
Are they worth buying? He's 59 and sorta tech savvy so i dont think he won't be able to not work it more just is it worth the £400

Do you sit at a desk and use it? Maybe for an hour or two at a time?

you can still buy the series 3 at a discounted price.
https://www.apple.com/uk/apple-watch-series-3/
That's pretty good as it is.
Or buy him the series 3 for chirstmas, have a play with it and if he is really into it then return the 3 and get a 4? Shops usually have extended return periods this time round, don't they...

8 hours or so on a plane, usually.

I use mine as my work laptop when travelling - a day of meetings and two airport waits is probably 7 hours of using it at a desk / table.

Mmm cheers - just wondering if you get any shoulder ache from that kind of prolonged use.

In some ways the keys are more comfortable than my MBP- much softer, more spring. That said, I can type a hell of a lot faster on the laptop. I’d not want to use the iPad for smashing out long documents, but for reviewing a long document it’s perfect.

How does it work for things where you need fine control (selecting a cell in Excel, putting the cursor at a specific point, selecting a specific area of text)?
I've only used tried using touchscreen Chromebooks, Android and Windows 2-in-1s for work and they are all a real ballache for that kind of thing. Is there some kind of "helper" in iOS that makes that easier or are you still screwed if you have fat fingers?

I’ve a series 3 and it’s great. Only thing which is slightly annoying is I can’t see what music is playing without my glasses on.
I think it’s great. -

Try to hear what music is playing

If I don’t happen to know exactly which of the 9000+ songs on my phone, it’s handy to be able to see it.
Old age means glasses are required. -

Chill out grandpa, I was just taking the piss!
-
• #13574
Actually isn't it possible to ask the watch these days, like "hey Siri, do you know which of my 9000+ songs is playing right now"?
-
• #13575
I don’t use Siri. But I think that may be possible.
I'd bung them all in to iPhoto for processing then once done export them to a folder then use whatever system Flickr now has for bulk uploads. Not exactly slick but I guess it's what you've got to do.
Any reason why you are still on Flickr?
