Seems like a good deal

I'd avoid a coil spring fork on a kids bike. They add weight, will stop working and don't work great to begin with.
This looks ace. Air sprung, hydro disks. Looks rad. http://www.cyclelane.co.uk/m5b138s10p11714/ORBEA-MX-24-Trail-2018/RS_GB/51203
Or, without the fork is very nice too and a touch cheaper.
Just bought my eldest the 20 inch version with rim brakes for xmas. She's mega excited for a "gears bike". In hoping it's the end of me pulling her up hills.

I do like that rigid version

Yep, The Orbea kids range is great, but confusing. They seem to have about 5 models for each frame.
The cheapest decent bet is this one, with the rim brakes: https://www.ukbikesdepot.com/m14b0s10p28485/Kids_Bikes/24_inch_Wheel_Kids_Bikes_%289_To_11_Yrs%29/ORBEA_MX_24_Team_2018
The ones lower than this have a steel fork, and to me the most important thing with kids bikes is to avoid unnecessary weight. The alloy forks looks cooler too. Still, given the money from the fund raiser, I'd find it hard not to buy the hydro disk option. It's tubeless ready too!

Cheers, yeah cheapest is not the concern. Better brakes would be great in making her feel safe

This also looks ok for a mixed terrain rigid -

Kinesis not the right sort of thing? It's certainly child sized. And disc brakes. And CX tyre clearances.

Far more decent tyres and wheels in 26" (compared with 24" above) I believe? Worth considering in case they ever need replacing.

Sorry, I forgot to get back to you.
Ideally yes it would be great, I’d build a sweet little gravel grinder and all would be good in the world. However in reality, it will probably be left outside, jumped off and dropped regularly so to be honest I’d rather get something complete off the shelf. I’d be too tempted to put bling parts on a build and they’ll just get ruined. -

I’ll drop some pennies in the pot.
I’ve only briefly read it so apologies if I missed a link to donate. Let me know how best to do this. -

Thank you all
Amey has been in surgery today having plates removed, 1 out of her maxilla and three out of her jaw.
She seems fine this evening I’m told so positive news -

That’s good to hear.

Ice cream. Plenty of ice cream.

Think I'm going to go with this
Its £465, 26" wheels, hydro brakes, rad fluoro paint, no suspension to get rusty and stop working, 10kg complete.

That will be amazing! How long before she can join the Honey Badgers rides?

Honey Badgers
Sounds tame so not long I imagine

Sorry, missed progress on this thread for a couple of weeks. Donated now. Despite being a fairly cynical old bastard, the story and the scans brought me to tears. Hope she manages to forget it ever happened.

Whoop whoop! Hope she loves it when she gets it for Xmas! Any extra money you can install a powermeter uno 😉

Ordered today so should be delivered to my sisters next week to go in the shed until Christmas. There’s still loads of money in the tin so I’ll look for a helmet and maybe a basic light set.
My girlfriend works for the Royal Academy of Dance in London and Amey is loving her ballet classes back home so I thought with what’s left, I could pay to bring her down to London on the train and Louisa (my other half) could get her a place on a ballet workshop that they run for kids in the summer. I think it’s about a hundred quid and we could make a whole weekend trip out of it for her
Your poor niece, great she's got the courage to get back on the bike!
Is there an easy way to sling some cash over? I could paypal if you have details?
