• Heat it by placing on radiator prior to installation. Makes it more stretchy/compliant and the adhesive tackier.

  • 75 eurobux a pop. I know I'll end up paying it too...

  • 75 eurobux

Yeah, but rrp on GP4000S2 is 60, and who ever pays that?

  • My tyre is holding air without sealant but didn't give any noticeable pops or pangs. Can a tyre seat without the sounds?

  • Yes, I have some cheap Chinese crabon rims, never pop, seal superbly every time any tyre

  • Any forum recommended patches (is this even the best approach) for fixing inside a horrible gash on my g one speed?

Tried rubberised superglue which didn't fix it and kept leaking air; before I go through a whole bottle of cafelatex or buy a new tyre (which would be shit as it's not old) thought I'd see if a patch on the interior would work.

  • Have you tried a worm first? Or did that fail?

  • or buy a new tyre (which would be shit as it's not old)

Sometimes you damage a tyre so badly that replacing it is the only option, even if it's in the first mile on the first day of use.

  • +1 for worm : Usually a worm + rubberised superglue works nicely, and avoid having to remove the tyre and messing with sealant..

Regarding paches, I've used a hutchinson "rep'air" road tubeless patch to fix a leaking fusion 5 galactik tyre (tyre worm would not even stay in the hole...) : It's been holding for a while now, and look safer than a worm fix, so I guess you could try.

Btw, I'm not sure how different are these patches from regular one - maybe different rubber compound ? the kit glue is the same as the one in their tube patch kit.

  • there are mushroom patches that can be put on the inside of a tyre

  • Thanks all. I've struggled to get an anchovy to work on past repairs as always end up with a noticeable bump so thought a patch might be better, but will see if I can find where I've put them and have another go.

I'd thought patches might work better but will see. Hopefully the tyre isn't completely fked, feeling quite pissed off at whichever nobhead threw a bottle onto the street outside my house.

  • I've repaired tires with things like these. Worked fine.

  • I like the sound of this Motorcycle Truck Bus. Tell us more.

  • Don't use Wiggle Lifeline sealant. Dried out within a month of being added to the tyre, as I found out this morning, in the rain and the dark

  • Does not exist. On road bikes tubeless is futile when GP4000SII exists.

@amey have you bought gp5000s yet?

  • I have retired from cycling; joined a gym. (no joke)

  • But yeah I'd advocate buying GP5000 in non-tubeless variety, the standards still need to settle for road tubeless.

  • Did you literally ride 200kms in October and November and nothing else? That's nuts.

  • I am telling you, i have retired!

  • re all these tubeless fixes, it pays to have a bottle of copydex latex glue. If you have an old sealant bottle such as tufo, refill it with a 50:50 mix of copydex to warm water and shake to mix, then pour said liquid in to the valve and put the puncture at 6 oclock blocking it with a finger to aid gunking up the hole. ive found this to be more effective than all of the very thin liquids ive tried including worms and can be the basis of experimenting with whatever other hole filling materials you want to chuck in with it such as polyester balls/glitter(it is xmas) or whatever else you want to try.

  • Meh. You did a 200km ride last month. You need to be out of the game longer to claim retirement. This could just be a pre-Christmas slump.
