  • I was semi-kidding. I don't need to sell, its a great camera :)

  • Btw I used a gsw690iii years ago and we did some pixel perving.
It’s really quite a good lens! Better than the 90mm and almost Mamiya 7 good.

Ideal for printing double page spreads lol.

  • The only little gripe I have about the first gen GW690 is the spool retainer mechanism. If you dont keep the pressure on the roll the exposed spool is wound wayyyy too loose. Plus the bits that come out from bottom are fiddly. The modern red button thing is much nicer.

I am yet to pixel-peep and compare to Mamiya 7.

For India in Jan I am thinking GSW690 and GF670.

  • Balcony of Europe.

    Sounds awful. Sell it :)

  • Noob alert:

I seem to have a load of Portra 160 knocking about. I’ve never done pushing of ISO, but would that be something that would make a 160 film potentially a bit more useful?

I thought it would be useful when I went to Hawaii, but it was rainy and overcast the whole time we were there.

    I just wouldn’t.

It’s nice film. Put it in a rangefinder with a shorts/fast lens or shoot it on a tripod or just keep it until summer.

Buy some 400 or something black & white to push.

  • This is magnificent!

  • That's excellent. Weather looks apocalyptic !

  • Are these really going to be your two only cameras? I cant imagine not having something compact (35 or digital) for when you dont want to lug medium format around

  • yeah just these two, for anything else just iPhone

  • It was, 2 minutes later everything in that square was up ended by insanely strong gusts. I love wild weather!

  • Quick one. This roll is going to be fucked right? First roll of 120 ever, shot in a Diana Dreamer. Stupidly opened in a lit room without realising how loosely wound it might come out

  • my first roll on the 690 came out like that, maybe not as loose but not far off .. I've sent it to Filmdev, hopefully it'll work otherwise a lesson for future.

  • Yeah just wondering if its even worth spending the money devving it. Probably not...

  • Honestly, I've had a couple of rolls like that - the camera rolled it tight, then I've fumbled it and it's unravelled as above. I'd usually just stuff it in a pocket and try and re roll as quickly as possible - much like opening a camera with film still in, it's never as bad as you think.

  • It must be really dark where you live.

  • Darkness surrounds me, wherever I go. . .

  • First roll developed in a few months - I've been creeping around all sorts of protests.

  • Looking for a prime in the 20-35mm range to compliment the 50mm 1.4.

    Looking at

    FD 24mm 2.8
    FD 28mm 2.8

Anyone have any preference? Digging online suggests both aren't great wide open (to be expected of most 70s/ 80s wide angle primes?) and solid sharpness edge to edge only coming in at F8ish

Should I put much emphasis in looking for older breech lock types vs newer, more plasticky FDn? The 50mm I have is older, heavier breech lock and feels good and solid, but I'll sacrifice that if the newer lighter FDn types maintain the same image quality if even not feeling that heavy/ solid.

Could it be more valuable to adapt something M42 in that focal range to FD? Have heard excellent things about the Mir 37mm F2.8 even though would like a shorter focal length.

Looking not to cap cost at around £100

  • Unless your printing to a large size and looking at if from a 1cm away, you're probably over thinking it.

£40 (with a six month warranty) seems fair enough to me

  • I never got on with the breech lock types, found the others easier to mount.
But yea, it's easy to overthink stuff like this.
Just get a clean lens that looks like it's been handled well and start shooting.
Fuck edge to edge sharpness, nobody cares.

  • Some of my first medium format and portrait shots . It was also the first time that I used Portra 400. Pretty happy of the results but still have a lot of to learn and to improve.

Ans some Tri-X with the Metz 45 CL-1 flash.

  • Hahaha. Fair points on the wide angle!

I'm going for that 20mm F2.8 on Ffordes. Want a wide angle so in for a penny, in for a pound.
