gloss black aluminium mudguards to fit 28 x 1 1/2" anyone?
-
• #3878
Honjo's? Expensive yes, but worth it. Things of beauty.

Velo Orange hammered 700x45 or zeppelin 700x52 come in black
-
• #3880
no 28".......only 650 / 700?
-
• #3881
28" is 700c basically, no?
-
• #3882
Velo Orange say you can adjust the radius of their metal guards, at least enough to make up the 28/700 difference. There's a guide somewhere but essentially you squash or spread them all the way along and it changes the radius.

Thanks, just read the Velo Orange guide. Yes, they say that you can use 700 guards for 27" wheels....bit not about 28" wheels
Bead Seat Diam. (BSD): 700=622mm, 27"=630mm and 28"=635mm
So, 28" is 13mm bigger diam than 700c......plus I've got 38mm width tyres fitted......think it'll be very tight! -

That 635 BSD for 28" wheels is for a much more rare version. Most of the time when we're talking about that size we mean the northern Euro designation, which is the same as 700c as stated further up.
To state it baldly: 700=622=28 most of the time.

Yes. The guards are for a Pashley which has 635-40 tyres
-
• #3886
An old one then?
Just read their site, they're still using 635s on the largest frame, ridiculous. -
• #3887
I should think you'll still get a good radius with the VO guards. It's only an extra 6.5mm, after all.
-
• #3889
Thanks, was looking at the Sovereign.
-
• #3890
The fact that the guards are 6.5mm smaller is the issue.
If they were 6.5mm larger, then fitting them 6.5mm 'further out' would mean that the alignment of the guard to wheel (constant clearance betwixt tyre and guard) would not be compromised........however....... -
• #3891
But as said above, they're fairly easy to re-radius

I was thinking about getting a set of these for the Inbred but I hate mudguards especially when it'll make it look like...
I'll probably only be able to fit the rear so if anyone is looking for a 65mm 26" front any time soon...

I'm guessing with the track ends that's gonna be a PITA to take the rear wheel out?
-
• #3894
Don't p******e
-
• #3895
Is that Bluemels in that first image? Front coverage looks shite if so.
-
• #3896
65mm Bluemels will fit over 2.2 Racekings?
I fit 650b 2.3 Big-One on a 700c 60mm GB mudguard, there is clearance trick is going for 700c which allow slightly more room between tyres and mudguard.

I have ordered some of the cheap Bluemels from Spa, I’m confident they’ll be wide enough but was hoping there’d be more coverage around the the wheel.

May as well tell me not to drink beer.
-
• #3899
No idea, just an inbred with mudguards. I normally don't use front mudguards.

Don't drink beer either.
I fitted some matt black bluemels a short while ago. They look quite nice
