Yes I meant the Panasonic. Thank you. Also the forks on the Colnago look super, you have nice bikes!

Can anyone tell me about old mtb quill stem standards? This one is a 28.6mm (1-1/8”) quill with 31.8mm bars. What is that, a 1-1/4” steerer tube?
I’m looking for a round replacement or a 1-1/8” to 1-1/8” quill adapter to use an Ahead stem. Does that even exist?

Thanks, @HarmanMogul Nice bike!
Mine will be a bit different as I'm building it with parts of more recent date (10 speed SLX/XT, Ritchey WCS "wet black"). -

As mentioned, several things have changed. If I have a spare moment I shall take a few shots of the bike as it is now.

If the stem/quill is 28.6mm (1-1/8"), then the steerer inner diameter will be the same and the steerer outer diameter will be, as you say 1-1/4" or 31.8mm.
I imagine a straight adapter is available, just the usual is 1" to 1-1/8".

There seems to be a Nitto straight adapter but I can’t find one in the UK so it’s about £40 landed! I think I’ve got a plan up my sleeve though - keep an eye on the hacks and bodges thread.

Looking forward to this. I’m in the same position.

That won't work with 1 1/4" forks...
-
• #1219
Yeah the bottom bit on that one is 25.4mm and I need straight 28.6mm all the way along like the Nitto MT Column.
So I’m going to make an Ahead adapter using the wedge, bolt and top cap off my stem. I’ve got some 28.6mm 3.2mm wall aluminium tube on the way. I’ll cut the wedge on the saw at work and will have to just ream the inside to match the cap.

I have one of these tucked away in the garage:

I'd like to get it working again - possibly go 1x.Is it a big faux pas to swap out the forks for some carbon and the chainset for Shimano HT2?
-
• #1221
It could certainly lose some weight
-
• #1222
Any idea what carbon forks you’d go for?

Having had a look on eBay it seems there's a large choice of fuck all that can accommodate the Magura hydro rim brakes. A 2nd hand eXotic fork is the answer...
Maybe I'll leave the forks for now...

is this what you're after?
Maybe check details with the seller

I think that’s 25.4 to 28.6. The step suggests that.
So, this is the plan. Nothing can go wrong.

Or did you refer to the Panasonic, @dazzrie? In that case my Panasonic Mc Pro has a 27,0 seatpost.
