The belt snapped at about 70000km, maintenance says to change at 150000km, so def too early.
The car is a 2011 and that year had a bad cover for the cambelt as it didn't cover the whole thing, the bottom was left exposed. The snap happened on a motorway I think, so could've been something hitting it.
As long as it doesn't affect the integrity of an engine, I guess it's good from a maintenance point of view like you say. It's certainly nice to know it's recently changed as it's a £1500 fix (at a VW dealer)
If you defer maintenance long enough for a cambelt to snap, what else have you not done on time?
With that said, how old is the Amarok in question? If it's younger than its first mandated cambelt change then it's better news from a maintenance perspective, but I'd want to know why it snapped.
